📢 Benedict's Law is coming – are your school and staff ready?
From September 2026, Benedict's Law will introduce mandatory allergy safety measures across schools in England, following the tragic death of five-year-old Benedict Blythe, who suffered a fatal anaphylactic reaction at school in 2021.
The new legislation will require schools to have:
✔️ A published allergy policy
✔️ Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for pupils with diagnosed allergies
✔️ Spare adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) on site
✔️ Staff trained to recognise and respond to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
With around two children in every classroom living with an allergy, and many severe allergic reactions occurring in children with no previous diagnosis, this is a significant step forward in protecting children across our schools.

Throughout the summer, our internal team has been undertaking allergy awareness training to ensure our consultants are fully informed about Benedict's Law and the responsibilities it brings. Alongside this, every educator we place into SEN schools and provisions will complete the mandatory training before the new academic year, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to allergic reactions.
