Finally got round to making up this batch of staff slings.

Staff slings were used to launch rocks and other small projectiles. As ranged anti-personnel weapons, they are often seen in depictions of seiges.

They work pretty much the same way as the dog ball throwers you might have seen

I've been on with some really cool projects recently.
Finished painting the lance to match the spear I recently posted, working on a couple of 12th and 13th century Shields, fabric craft and a new painting project!

Embroidery isn't a strength of mine but I'm really pleased with this. 😊😊
Linen on linen embroidery to be attached to the sleeve of a 12th century dress.
Linen threads from The Handweavers Studio and fabric from Bernie the Bolt.

So this is the latest work in progress.

A roundshield with white knotwork around the border and into a cross. Designing the knotwork was an interesting process as it has flow and weave without getting too tangled and then also join with the cross.

Still lots to do on it until it'll be any good as a shield
