Interview Anxiety
This is a natural human fear. We crave approval & validation this leads to nerves and anxiety. Ensuring you are prepared will make your experience less nail biting and more of a chance to show off a little and fact find.

Read the job description / ad through, have a good dig in to the company website, make notes and if you are on LinkedIn have a look at the interviewer(s) you are meeting with. This will give you a feel for their background and their career to date, including how long they have been with the company.

If the interview is face to face work out where the office / meeting is, parking / public transport route. If the interview is online check you have the correct app downloaded and check it works.

Dress to impress but be comfortable, the fidgeting of your collar / tie being too tight or a dress that you aren't comfortable sitting in will not allow you to shine. You are always able to ask about business dress code, as many work places don't go for formal attire.

Anyone you speak to, meet or communicate with are all human. They want you to be the best you can be and show how you could have found your new work family with them.

Interviews should be a 2 way street you find out about the role / business and they find out about you. You will have the opportunity to answer their questions and ask a few questions to find out more.

I like to ask what the person you are in the interview with like about the company/ job they do. Or what are the first 30 / 60 / 90 days expectations for the role. Try to look at what you want to know from your research and prep some questions that show your interest in the role.

Interviews should offer you the opportunity to show transferable skills and to show your fit to the role. The interviewers will look to sell the role & business.

The interviewer should let you know the timeline for a decision or next steps. If you don't get this just ask.

I hope this helps. If you want to do some dummy interviewing or chat through the different types of interviews let me know.

Good luck!

The Job Hunt
There is has been so much change over the past 12 months. There are lots of job hunters applying for the roles that are out there.

The uncertainty for so many I am working with is hunting for roles and believing in themselves, refocussing their searches and getting in front of their next employer.

The following notes are to help you build confidence & achieve steps in your career needing to get where you are going next.

The Hunt
2021 is going to be a year of opportunities, being ready to master these is going to be key. You need to have your Curriculum Vitae (CV) ready for the next step in your career, whether that be a change of industry, a new career in a similar industry or stepping out into your own business.

The Goal
Give yourself a chance to succeed, I am not going be your cheerleader But, get yourself to a place where you see a potential, a possibility and aim for it.

If you need to have this as a note on the fridge, your screen saver or a meditation style chant. You may not get a response to your applications, you may get a no with no feedback or you may get to stage 1 of a recruitment process. The expectation that we will win every time we try is not reality, keep trying the job is out there.

The Certainty
Treat your job hunt as a presentation of your skills, experience and sell yourself. I know this sounds simple, but we all struggle to do this. The right CV, the right cover letter and a plan to what to search for and where to apply can make it happen.

To develop your CV, develop your employer presentation and win your next job contact me today.
