Daniel brings great drive (no pun intended) and comes with over 20 years of transport operations and driver recruitment experience to the role, alongside a background as a qualified CPC Transport Manager. He understands the industry from the inside and knows first-hand the pressures operators face day to day.

Working with transport and logistics businesses across the North West, Daniel will be helping clients secure reliable staffing support from someone who genuinely understands compliance, OCRS protection, operational standards, and keeping things moving in high-pressure or quick-turnaround environments.

Recently, Denise McKie was joined by Nicky Paine, Social Impact Lead, and Jessica Rivers, Social Impact Specialist from The Civil Works Alliance, to support the Leiston Good Neighbour Scheme allotment project 🌱

The visit was a great opportunity to volunteer and contribute to a valuable green space that brings people together, encourages community involvement and benefits local residents.

Across the sectors we support, long hours, pressure, time away from family and financial worries can all have an impact, even when people don’t show it.
Mental health isn’t always visible in the same way a physical injury is. Someone can turn up to work every day, keep conversations going and still be struggling quietly behind the scenes.

At Logical, we treat wellbeing with the same importance as physical safety in the workplace.

As proud supporters of the Lighthouse Charity, part of our role is helping to raise awareness of the support and resources available across industry.

The Lighthouse Charity offers a 24/7 confidential helpline, text support service, wellbeing app and a wide range of free resources for workers and their families.

From the point of onboarding, our workforce is made aware of the support available and where to access it if needed, with that awareness continuing throughout employment.

Internally, our essential steps include:
✅ Regular communication with our workforce, including weekly updates
✅ Ongoing site visits and face-to-face check-ins
✅ A phone line that’s always open 📞
✅ Private, confidential conversations arranged when needed 🤝
✅ Promoting and reinforcing support available through the Lighthouse Charity from day one

Su***de remains one of the biggest killers in construction, and across many of the sectors we support, which is why normalising conversations around mental health matters.

We all have a part to play in looking out for one another. Sometimes, a simple check-in or conversation can make more of a difference than we realise.

Can you imagine being made redundant after serving the same company for 22 years? That’s what Matt Durrant was faced with, and we are aware that he isn’t a lone case in today’s changing climate.

That’s why connecting local people with long-term opportunities on major local projects matters.

Matt, who has lived in Leiston all his life, has recently started a new chapter in his career as a General Operative working for the Civil Works Alliance in Leiston. When we met Matt, we recognised the transferable skills, reliability and strong work ethic he could bring to the project, despite coming from a different industry background.

We’re delighted to have supported Matt through this career transition and into a long-term opportunity close to home.

🏆 We are so proud of Callum Matthews. He set himself a simple but relentless goal for April… to run 4K every single day.

No excuses. No shortcuts. Pure consistency. Come rain or shine… Much like how he shows up at work.

30 days later, his challenge is complete!
120.8km run in total 👏👏👏

But this part of the Logical Spring Fitness Challenge was never just about distance.

His daily 4k run was to represent the 4,000 patients supported each year by St Elizabeth Hospice - and the care they provide to individuals and families when they need it most.

That’s what makes this challenge matter.
Every donation contributes to something bigger:
🫶 £20 funds a nurse for one hour
🫶 £74 funds an outpatient consultation
🫶 £170 funds a nurse for a full day
🫶 £664 funds a 24-hour inpatient stay

Callum’s effort is just one part of our wider team challenge, which runs through to July.

Next up: Georgie Lockwood takes on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this May.

Mandeep Basra joined the team as a Traffic Marshall at Sizewell C and has now been on site for nearly two months. She is also the second female professional we’ve placed on this project, marking another step towards a more diverse workforce on site.

She shares her experience so far:
“I received such a warm and friendly welcome from the Logical team. They took the time to call me over the weekend before I relocated to Suffolk, and I was met after my induction and shown to site. On day two, I had the opportunity to have a coffee with Denise, who was really helpful in discussing local accommodation options and explaining the plan for my first few weeks on site. Having previously worked as a Traffic Marshall at Heathrow, I’ve really valued the opportunity to continue building my experience and developing further on-site with Logical.”
