Whilst scenario-based questions aren’t new to lecturer interviews, we are seeing a rising emphasis on their importance in 2026.
FE providers are moving away from purely hypothetical questions. Instead, they’re asking you to respond to real classroom situations, demonstrate behaviour management strategies, or even deliver a short lesson. The goal is to see your thought process and how you apply your skills in practice.
✅ Do: prepare examples of classroom management strategies
✅ Do: practice short lesson plans or demos
❌ Don’t: give vague, hypothetical answers
❌ Don’t: freeze when asked to role-play a situation
Scenario-based questions are just one of several trends shaping lecturer interviews this year, alongside hybrid formats, wellbeing, digital confidence, and diversity.
