What is The Happiness Index and why have we launched it? 😊

💭 One of the most important things for any business, is to listen to its employees thoughts/ideas/concerns 💭

The tough thing about being a small, going on medium-sized business, is that sometimes things will move quickly and when they do, communication channels can break, we want to ensure that this happens as little as possible and this platform will support us on a consistent basis.

The platform gives us:

🧡 The ability to complete quarterly surveys to understand how people really feel about working for us, and how we can continually improve as a business.

🧡 a 24/7 'Employee Voice', enabling our people to anonymously raise any issues and talk about how they are feeling, so that they feel supported at every point of their journey with us. Not only is this a tool we wanted to implement for support, but also as an opportunity to shout out fellow employees for their excellent work!

Introducing our newest hire in the Manchester office, meet Phil Morris! 👋

Where are you from? 📍
Warrington, not many people have heard of it but its basically the large bit of land between Manchester and Liverpool!

What brought you to Manchester? 🤷
I lived in Manchester for 4 years whilst I was at Uni (lived in some proper dives!). I love the city, there’s always something going on therefore you’re never bored! I live back in Warrington now (enjoying the cheaper cost of living compared to the city) - I commute in to the office a few times a week either driving or train – takes about 45 minutes to an hour dependent on traffic.

2 things you get up to on the weekend 📅
I’ve got a 2 year old, so usually my weekends are spent in some form of play area or wacky warehouse. Usually try and get some exercise in as well whether that be going to the gym, playing football or a big walk somewhere.

2 things you couldn’t live without 🧡
I definitely couldn’t cope without my morning coffee to kick start my day! Pret’s a go to with their subscription service.
Probably quite standard, but definitely my phone. Quite scary how much we rely on them, but they do make life easy in terms of not needing physical money/cards, train tickets, all my music etc – they really are a god send!

2 favourite foods 🍽️
Indian is by far my favourite – I lived right next to Rusholme at Uni so would make regular trips to the curry mile! A close second would be Thai/Vietnamese!

2 things we should know about you 💭
I’ve got 36 cousins (34 on my dad’s side, 2 on my mum’s)
Since the lockdown in 2020 I’ve had an avid interest in stocks and shares.

We can't believe it's been a year! 🧡

Tom joined us with no prior recruitment experience, so to see how far he's come in the last year has been nothing short of incredible, he then finished the year winning the "Consultant's Consultant" award as well as "Best Newcomer for 2022", so it's safe to say his efforts have been noticed.

Here's what Tom had to say! 👇

"My first year at Amber has gone pretty well, as we all know the markets can be really turbulent right now, but I've battled through to reach new heights and become a known face within the business and Java in central London.

The main thing I've learnt this year is to be resilient, recruitment comes with so many highs and lows, but for every failure, comes a lesson learnt where success can grow.

If you're considering a career in recruitment, take the leap, it can change your life.

The skills I think it's important to have as a recruiter are to be disciplined with yourself and create consistency, the results will follow. The more effort you put in, the more you gain from it. It seems like a bit of a cliché, but be the hardest worker in the room.

The support I have felt this year at Amber has been second to none. The founders of the business have been incredible with me from day one, George Bone, Huw Haley, Christian Lewis, Tom Ponting, they've got your back and genuinely care and will drive you forward anytime of the day, if you need help they are there.

Working in recruitment, it's inevitable that you'll make mistakes to begin with, my advice would be when you get constructive criticism, go back and implement it into your way of working, this will help you.

Olly provided training that went above and beyond and has provided on the floor support as and when.

I'm looking forward to what 2023 brings and the bumps along the way!"

Goodbye (for now) Huw Haley!

Huw is off on his travels around South America! 🌎

We will miss seeing his face and rather large backpack everyday... ❤️

For now Hadden Smith will be taking over the Python Market in Huw's absence, and we're confident he'll do a great job.

And we're back! 💥

We may be a little confused as to what day it is, and struggled with the early start today, but that aside we're buzzing to be back after our Christmas Office Shutdown!

After an incredible 2022, we can't wait to see what 2023 will bring for us here at Amber Resourcing.
