From riding the post-COVID tech & data boom to building one of our most profitable and fastest-growing practices, Charley has been at the centre of it all.
Off the back of that success, Charley stepped into the MD role and led the business to new heights across 2023-2024. And then, like many of us experienced, the market shifted. Almost overnight, things slowed down.
But standing still has never been Char’s style.
Spotting the opportunity in Renewables early, he moved fast. Within a week, we had designed and launched an entirely new business: PT Renewables. What followed was incredible, including securing a client partnership delivering 60+ retained roles. All were born from adapting quickly when the market changed.
Following that success, Charley has now stepped into the Chief Sales Officer role, driving growth across all areas of PT, and, unsurprisingly, he’s flying.
Beyond the numbers, Charley is a huge part of what makes our team what it is. Energy, humour, resilience, he brings it every day. From the early days in a leaky office above a car garage with pre-work dog walks in Barton Hill, to where we are now in Cargo Works, and even completing a 70.3 Ironman together, it’s been some ride.
What you’ve achieved over the last 5 years is nothing short of outstanding. I’ve genuinely loved working alongside you, and watching you grow in personal life has been amazing, from getting married to Ella and buying your house in Keynsham! Your energy, commitment, and sheer ability are second to none.

We have another PT celebration, this time it’s all about our Emily Mugford! Here’s some words from her line manager Antoinette Werrell..

“4 years ago Emily Mugford started at Peaple Talent fresh out of school, no recruitment experience but also no work experience. During these 4 years Emily has experienced a thriving post covid tech market in year 1 AND a sudden market crash in years 2 and 3 throughout which she has always stayed resilient and honed her skills to stay ahead of a volatile market. In years 3 and 4 Emily moved into an Account Management role, taking on client management alongside resourcing and achieved a promotion to Senior Account Manager in year 4.

She also became the first to qualify for Cheltenham races and one of 5 to qualify for the annual holiday incentive. These achievements speak for themselves but what I love most about Emily’s journey over the last 4 years is witnessing her build in confidence and always operate with integrity. Emily’s external brand is one of the best. The care and attention she gives candidates and clients is exemplary and always results in repeat business and a long list of glowing personal recommendations.

Emily takes so much pride in placing her candidates into roles that she knows they’ll love for a long time to come. Congratulations on a brilliant 4 years! Can’t wait for the next chapter!”

🎉 Three years of our Sales Director Jordan Fitzgerald! We sat down with Karl Sweatman to get a few words..

“Congratulations on hitting 3 years with the business, Jordan. It took us nearly 5 years to get you here, but it was well worth the graft and constant rejections!

Since joining, you’ve done a brilliant job as an individual contributor and, over the last 12 months, stepped into the role of Sales Director. You’re now leading our 360 teams across permanent and contract operations within our tech and renewables practice. You’re building a fantastic team, helping drive the business forward, and playing a key role in achieving our growth goals. You’re also pretty handy on a sales day, always leading from the front, with your personal highlight being the Claudia Winkleman outfit!

Outside of the day job, you’ve supported the business’s charity partners through bike rides from Bristol to Paris and Bristol to Bordeaux, as well as finishing SECOND (to the faster, fitter Will Eamer) in the 70.3 Ironman in Weymouth. Some seriously impressive personal achievements!

We’re really looking forward to watching your career continue to grow and to your ongoing success in building PT.

December’s Value Hero goes to Alex for ‘Do it Ethically’ And yes, it’s the second time he won a Value Hero award!

A huge month on the numbers, but as ever with Alex Palmer, the real story is how the results were delivered.

He doesn’t skim markets, he goes deep. What looked like a fast turnaround was actually weeks of proper market exploration, niche sourcing and careful relationship building. By the time clients were ready to move, the work was already done and done well!

Alongside the results, Alex consistently shows professionalism, honesty and empathy. He is open with clients, transparent about candidates and confident enough to challenge processes that are not working. That trust is earned.

And then there’s the energy. Relentlessly positive, always encouraging, always backing the team. Even on the tougher days, he lifts everyone around him.

Winning this twice is no accident! The Peaples People ;)

✨ Christmas at the Spiegeltent ✨

What a night at the Spiegeltent Bristol, an evening full of great food, great company and even better memories. From a delicious three course meal and flowing drinks to incredible entertainment, plenty of dancing and nonstop laughter… we definitely packed in enough fun to last us another year. 💃🕺

Moments like these are a reminder that behind the hard work, targets and timelines is an amazing team that truly enjoys spending time together. Huge thanks to everyone who made the night such a success.. already looking forward to the next one!

🏆 Two Value Heroes for September!

Our September Value Heroes Awards went to not one, but two team members who have both made a big impression this month.

First up is Fin Mace, who joined us in early September and made Peaple Talent history by winning within his very first month. Fin was voted by the team for ‘Make an Impact’

🎉 We’re proud to announce as Peaple Talent’s Fundraising Partner of the Year!

Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some of the Community of Purpose team into our office for lunch. They shared the incredible work they’re doing across Bristol, creating opportunities for young people and driving real change in our city.

In just six months, Sam Doney has gone from a standing start to building a £5,000 WGP contract book, an impressive milestone to hit in such a short space of time!

It’s a real credit to Sam’s hard work and ability, but also a great example of what can be achieved with the support of our team and the strength of the network we’ve built.

This is only the beginning! With this solid foundation in place, we’re now looking to grow the contract team further and create even more opportunities ahead.

Last week we enjoyed a brilliant evening at the 2025 SPARKies awards! ✨

Hearing about the amazing work happening across the South West tech scene was a real boost for us all. Massive congrats to the winners - you absolutely smashed it! 👏

We didn’t bag the award for Contribution to Talent this time, but that didn’t take away from how inspiring the evening was. It was an absolute honour to just be nominated by someone outside of Peaple Talent to recognise all the team here.

Huge shoutout to techSPARK uk and the Sparkies crew for putting on such a brilliant event that brings this community together. Nights like this remind us why we’re so passionate about what we do.

It’s been a full week now in the new Peaple Talent HQ.

We’ve had a full house every day and made the most of it - from welcoming clients into the space, filming a brand-new campaign, celebrating birthdays, and throwing a Wimbledon themed sales day complete with quizzes and games. We’ve been treated to team lunches, started scouting the best new food spots nearby, and kicked off our first HQ Lunch Club in style.

It’s been buzzing. 🙂‍↕️

This space isn’t just a new office, it’s a fresh start for how we collaborate, connect and celebrate the wins, big or small. And if week one is anything to go by, we’re just getting started.
