On 12 October, we’re bringing CFOs and Finance Directors together in London for a fireside Q&A with Alexis Sikorsky, author of Cashing Out.

Getting a private equity offer is the exciting bit. For the CFO, that’s when a very different part of the deal begins.

Alexis built New Access from a basement start-up, sold a majority stake to private equity and later exited the business completely for a nine-figure sum. He’s experienced the process from the other side of the table.

We’ll be getting into the parts of a PE sale that CFOs actually have to deal with:

- Why the number in the letter of intent can look very different by the end of diligence
- The EBITDA adjustments buyers really care about
- What happens when the valuation rests on a forecast
- How earn-outs change spending decisions
- Due diligence on the PE firm itself
- Good leaver, bad leaver and what happens after the deal
- The role of advisers and who they’re really working for
- And there won’t be a slide deck doing all the talking.

Your questions will shape the session. Submit one when you register and Leo Hewett will use them to build the opening conversation with Alexis, followed by an open-floor Q&A.

Monday 12 October | 4pm–6pm
Lloyds Banking Group, London
Free to attend

No vendors. No pitching. Specifically for CFOs, FDs or finance leaders.

Register before 12 September and we’ll also post you a copy of Cashing Out so you can read it before meeting Alexis.

If a PE transaction is somewhere on your horizon, this should be a very useful couple of hours.

We’ve spoken with hundreds of finance leaders about how they're using AI, and FP&A is one of the areas that keeps coming up.

So, that’s exactly what we’re covering in our next AI in Finance workshop for finance leaders on Tuesday 18 August at 1pm.

We’ll show you how to use AI to:

• Build detailed scenario models
• Carry out full business case analysis
• Turn the numbers into a clear story
• Create interactive dashboards that update throughout the process
• Connect finance systems such as Xero, Sage and Sightline with tools including ChatGPT and Claude

Peter Beard ACA BFP will be joining us again. Peter is an ex-Big Four accountant, an ICAEW board member and an AI implementation expert who has helped businesses achieve up to three times greater productivity.

Everyone who attends will also receive the full slide deck, including practical prompts you can copy, paste and start using with your finance team straight away.

Our next CFO PE roundtable is next Thursday, 11th June, 12:30 to 1:30 on Teams.

This one is all about systems transformation under PE pressure.

Exclusively for CFOs of PE-backed companies, we’ll be exploring:
- How peers are sequencing finance systems change under PE cadence.
- Protecting the close while the stack changes underneath,
- Keeping the team intact, and building the business case so the board funds it
properly rather than reluctantly.

We have few spaces left.

Please only register if you can actually make it, we're capped at 12.

Register using the link in the comments below to see the next roundtables we have lined up and signup for next Thursday’s event.

We hope to see you there!

Finance can’t sit on the sidelines when it comes to purpose.

That was one of the big takeaways from our recent Conscious Finance podcast conversation with Paul King - finance & fundraising expert for mission-driven founders.

He made a brilliant point.

Often, finance can feel like it’s sitting on the opposite side of the table from marketing, HR, or people teams.

Those teams might be pushing for investment in things like wellbeing, employee engagement, retention, customer experience, or brand. All of which make sense instinctively, but don’t always show up neatly on a P&L straight away.

And that’s where finance professionals have such an important role to play. Not to block those conversations, but to help translate them.

Because the things we often call “intangible” are rarely disconnected from commercial performance. Wellbeing, connection to purpose, employee engagement and brand equity all influence the measures businesses are already tracking: productivity, retention, hiring costs, customer loyalty, performance and profitability.

The opportunity for finance is to build the bridge between the two. To connect the dots between people-led or purpose-led initiatives and the numbers that matter to the business.

This is exactly the kind of thinking we love exploring on the Conscious Finance podcast. Paul shared far more insight in the full episode, so it’s well worth a listen.

We’re buzzing to welcome Jackie Pillay to Core3.

With 18 years in delivery, a knack for seeing what most people miss in candidates, and plenty of experience with AI, Jackie is a great fit.

She brings the exact mix we were looking for: inquisitive, strategic, emotionally intelligent, and properly driven.

For Core3, Jackie is the perfect first hire as we build our dedicated expert delivery function.

We want a delivery team that’s relentless about finding the right talent beyond the ‘active’ market. Every day.

One that cares deeply about giving candidates a white glove service, with proper interview prep, real-time feedback, and a level of care that makes the process feel genuinely human.

Jackie will play a big part in how we qualify candidates, from evidence-based scorecards and pressure-tested judgement, through to shortlist reports that help clients see what the CV can’t.

She’ll also help clients with proper aftercare and bespoke onboarding plans that help new hires land quickly, build trust early, and make the right impact.

Welcome to the team Jackie.

Reset. Refocus. Reconnect.
That was the theme of our latest team day.

Breakfast at home. Strategy in the living room. Paddle in the afternoon. Spa to finish. Not a bad way to spend a day together.

But underneath the sunshine and a bit of healthy competition, this was about something bigger...

Reflecting honestly on the last 12 months.
What challenged us.
What stretched us.
And what’s quietly started to work.

Last year tested us in ways we didn’t expect. It forced us to think differently, make tougher decisions, and get really clear on who we’re becoming.

The good news? The last five months have brought consistent growth, fresh energy, and real momentum.

Today, we’re sharper. More intentional. More aligned with our mission to pioneer conscious recruitment and create opportunities that build legacy.

The day started with OKRs, personal goals, and some honest conversations about where we’re heading next.

It finished with paddle, spa, sunshine... and a team that feels genuinely excited about what’s ahead.

Grateful for the people.
Excited for the journey.
Just getting started.

Being a CFO in a PE-backed business can feel… pretty lonely.

You’re balancing investor expectations, a business that’s scaling quickly, and decisions that need to land before everything is fully clear. The numbers matter, but it’s the judgement around them that really gets tested… and a lot of that sits with you.

It’s not something that gets talked about openly very often, but it comes up consistently in conversations with CFOs in that environment.

That’s why we’ve set up the UK PE CFO Roundtable.

A small group of CFOs, similar stage, coming together to share what they’re seeing and how they’re handling it. No presentations, no polished answers… just honest discussion around things like forecast credibility, exit readiness, AI, and everything that sits around those topics.

We’ll keep it simple. One hour, on Teams, under Chatham House rules.
