Hours of Work: Rotating shifts on a double-day schedule:

* Early Shift: Mon-Thurs 6:00am-2:15pm, Fri 6:00am-12:00pm
* Late Shift: Mon-Thurs 2:15pm-10:15pm, Fri 12:00pm-7:30pm
* 37 hours per week, with additional hours as required to maintain the efficient running of the department.

Location: Poole, Dorset

Responsibilities
As a Deburrer/Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

* Precision deburring of metal components using various tools and techniques.
* Inspecting and deburring work under magnification to ensure quality standards.
* Reading engineering drawings to identify critical features.
* Selecting and using appropriate inspection equipment for manufacturing.
* Manufacturing components to correct drawing specifications.
* Changing inserts and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
* Selecting and identifying bushes and fixtures to protect critical features.
* Hand engraving traceable numbers on components.
* Shot blasting components for cleaning and preparation for future treatments.
* Cleaning and protecting components.
* Completing necessary quality documentation.
* Adhering to Lean principles and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
* Assisting in the training of other employees.
* Collaborating with Production Engineers on Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
* Completing component tool sheets and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when required.
* Understanding and utilizing the Kanban process.
* Performing other duties as required by the nature and level of the role.

Qualifications
Essential:

* Proven experience in deburring intricate features in a variety of components.
* Ability to select the correct tooling and methods for specific jobs.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong understanding of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
* Demonstrable positive attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business demands.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

* Apprenticeship-trained in a relevant field.
* Experience operating machine tools.

Day-to-Day
Your day-to-day activities will involve working on intricate components, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. You will use a variety of tools and techniques to deburr, inspect, and prepare components for further processing. Collaboration with team members and Production Engineers will be a key part of your role, as will maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Documentation

* Maintaining accurate records of kits prepared, issued, and returned.
* Updating ERP/MRP systems with tool movements as required.

Quality & Safety

* Adhering to safety protocols when handling sharp or heavy tools.

Communication

* Coordinating with planners, machinists, and production teams for urgent requirements.
* Promptly escalating shortages or discrepancies to the relevant teams.

Continuous Improvement

* Proactively suggesting improvements to reduce kit preparation time and errors.
* Actively participating in 5S and lean initiatives within the Pre-Kitting area.

Qualifications

* Experienced ex-machinists or engineers with a strong knowledge of machine tooling.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management processes.

Hours of Work:

* 37 hours per week, typically comprising of 8 hours Monday-Thursday, 5 hours Friday
* Working Week: Mon-Thurs = 8 hours paid (8.5 hours on site), flexible start/finish (as early as 7am start, 4pm finish, or as late as 9am start, 6pm finish. Friday = 5 hours paid (early start as 7am)

Job Summary

Producing looms/cable assemblies & test equipment items from drawings & kits to the required build standards and agreed time frames. minimum information & by liaising with in-house engineers.

* Our preference is for Prototype Wire Persons to join our growing team but we are also interested in Production Wire Persons who are experienced in producing high-quality sub-assemblies, looms and cable assemblies to IPC 620/military/aerospace standards
* We make prototype and very small production runs of bespoke test systems, harnesses and subassemblies (i.e., typically no more of 3 of the same product)

Responsibilities

Able to solder to a consistently high standard
Production of wiring looms/cable assemblies: comfortable with crimping, soldering, lacing & splicing to aerospace standards
Wiring of cabinets and fixtures

* Assembly of PCBs (desirable but not essential)

Extensive knowledge of cable types, connectors, cable assembly techniques and applications
Able to liaise with in-house engineers with technical queries and provide build solutions for prototype assemblies
Understanding of engineering drawings, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams
Able to solder to a consistently high standard
Familiar with a variety of mil spec connectors, cable production techniques
Able to work to IPC 620 Class 3
Able to work to deadlines
Tidy, methodical and accurate
Own standard wiring tools (specialized tools will be supplied)
Able to work independently
Good team player
Willing to provide on-site support at customer premises when required
ESD awareness

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience in similar work essential (ideally within the Defense / Aerospace sector)
IPC 620 certified
Demonstrated capability by skills test
Full driving license
Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria
