We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to see their work do more than sit in a CAD file.

This role is all about developing new products, improving existing designs, supporting prototypes, testing, validation and helping take real products through to manufacture.

Best suited to someone with mechanical product design experience, SolidWorks / SolidWorks PDM, DFM, technical drawings, FEA, GD&T, sheet metal, machining or fabrication knowledge.

As Platinum has grown, we wanted the technology behind our teams to grow with us too.

Big changes could be coming for how businesses plan shifts - especially if you use agency workers.

The Government is looking at new rules on guaranteed hours, shift notice, and getting paid if a shift is cancelled or changed last-minute. Agency workers are included too.

Nothing's confirmed yet, but if you're in warehousing, production, or facilities, it's worth asking yourself a few questions now rather than later:

✅ Can we actually predict our staffing needs in advance?
✅ Is there one clear process for booking shifts - not five different ways of doing it?
✅ How often do we cancel or change shifts last minute, and why?
✅ Do our regular agency workers basically work the same hours every week?
✅ Do we have a trusted pool of workers we can call on, instead of starting recruitment from scratch each time?

Getting ahead of this now means more stability for your business - and more certainty for the people working those shifts.

A little look Behind the Scenes at Motion. ⚙️

Anna and Rachael had a brilliant afternoon with Dorset Chamber visiting Motion Control Products Ltd and meeting Steve McKay, Luke McKay and the team.

They heard more about the company’s continued growth, what’s ahead and got to see the engineering operation up close too.

And there was a very fitting motorsport link… 🏎️

Motion sponsors rising kart racing star Roman Vickery, so it was great to hear more about the journey they’re supporting as well.

A really enjoyable afternoon with a fantastic Dorset business.

Thanks to the Motion team for the warm welcome, and to Dorset Chamber for another great event bringing local businesses together. 👏
