💙 Earlier this month, on World Mental Health Day, we reflected on the importance of being heard, respected and involved in decisions about care.

Today, we're sharing a powerful story from Gateway Recovery Centre that brings those values to life.

In this video, a service user and Counselling Therapist, John Dyas, discuss the importance of communication, choice and meaningful involvement in recovery. Together with colleagues and fellow service users, they helped develop a Communication Charter that champions every person's right to have a voice and be actively involved in their care.

What began as a conversation about communication evolved into an opportunity to create change, with service users taking their experiences beyond the hospital and advocating for improvements in mental health services.
The video also celebrates one individual's recovery journey, highlighting how confidence, independence and hope can flourish through compassionate, person-centred care.
