Gary recently spoke with a local radio station, Big City Radio, about our upcoming TUK TUK challenge on 7th to 11th July 2023, which aims to raise £50K for the Birmingham Children's Hospital. The challenge will involve driving a TUK TUK, a tiny 200cc, 4 stroke single cylinder with a top speed of 45mph from John O’Groats to Lands’ End, covering a total of 1,000 miles in under 5 days.
During the interview, he discussed the logistics of the challenge, which will see him and Alex Westworth, the MD of Now Education, facing various weather conditions and road hazards. Despite the potential difficulties, they are determined to complete the challenge and raise vital funding towards investigatory work and life-saving equipment for the cardiac ward at the hospital.
All funds raised will go directly to the Birmingham Children's Hospital, supporting their ongoing work to provide top-quality care and support for young patients.

Making a Difference in Children’s Lives

In my blog last week, I mentioned that we are launching an exciting competition for schools.

This is an opportunity where schools can participate in the design of the TUK TUK that we are taking from John O’Groats to Land’s End in July to raise £50k for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The winning school will receive a £500 voucher towards equipment they need, including having their design featured on the TUK.TUK.

This competition is open to schools across our national network.
How can you and your school help?

The competition easy to enter. Just follow the simple instructions on the flyer shown below and send all of the entries to [email protected] Should you wish for us to bring the TUK TUK to your school, time permitting, we would be happy to do this.

We have been in business for over 30 years, operated a business in Australia for 16 years as part of our Group and we are now one of the fastest growing Education Businesses in the UK. We really do want to make a difference. I would be more than happy to talk to all ages of children as my career and life has been an adventure after being asked to leave school at the age of 16.

We would like to have all of the designs from schools by 20th May please and the winner will be revealed by end of May 2023.

We hope you can encourage your children to support this deserving cause and look forward to hearing from you.

On 15th July 2023 Rachel Mansell and her amazing team will be taking part in the Pretty Muddy (Race for Life) 5K event, to raise money for cancer research.

She and her team have been training hard for this race and I know they are going to do an amazing job. But they need our help too!

If you're able to, please consider donating to support their efforts. Every little bit helps and together we can make a real difference in the fight against cancer.

You can donate through: https://lnkd.in/e2s8XHEW

Let's show them some love and help them reach their fundraising goal.

Making a Difference

This is the 3rd video clip that Gary have posted from the time at Birmingham Children's Hospital. In this episode, we actually take a look inside Gary's heart at the mechanical valve and how it works.

This was not something he was expecting at all. He was truly blessed, and this was the hospital's way of saying thank you for the fundraising we are undertaking.

One of the nurses, at the end, got quite emotional when Gary said, “Thank you, what you do is amazing”. How easy is it for all of us to say something nice each day to another person and make them feel good. It’s a positive behaviour that we just do not use enough. We all need to try, in whatever capacity it may be.

Making a Difference

It's been just under a week since I launched the first video where I talk about my own story of going through heart surgery, which in my case was the replacement of my aortic valve with a mechanical valve.

From a fundraising point of view, the week has been productive. Our target is to raise £50,000 to provide new equipment for The Birmingham Children’s Hospital to treat more children with heart disease. In just under a week, we raised £7310, with some great donations of all amounts. Each and every one counts to support the journey of raising these funds.

Over the next four weeks, I will release a series of short, 2-minute, videos. These will feature my time spent with some of the patients and staff at the hospital. The short interviews with the amazing staff show how much they care and love what they do. It's so moving and overwhelming to witness.

Please take a look at this video and, if possible, share it to help spread awareness.
