A Special Visitor for 487 sqn. 20th Oct saw the sqn host a special visitor, Air Cmdr Lewis, Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets. Following a quick trip over from 495 sqn, the Air Cmdr was shown around the sqn, particularly the new flight simulator kit which was purchased through a grant from the Air Cadet Charity. Air Cmdr Lewis also took the time to promote Cdt Challi to the rank of Corporal, and he also presented WO Steve Taylor with his Kings Coronation medal. Many thanks for visiting the sqn Sir, it was great to see you.

Many congratulations to the cadets and staff from the Sqn who have today taken part in the annual Wing Field Day. The Sqn's cadets took part in a number of competitions such as drill, banner drill, leadership, space, aircraft recognition, and many more.
The wing also took part in the first Wing photograph to be taken in 30 years! CI Rob Jeffries was on the original photo taken in 1996, and he was there today too!! Well done to him, he doesn't look any different!!
The final results will be sent later in the week so we will see where we came overall, but the effort put in by the cadets, and indeed the staff, was tremendous. Well done to all.

The tree commemorating the old boys of 487 sqn is still going strong at the National Memorial Arboretum. The NMA is looking like a desert at the moment, so dry, but the tree keeps going.
