If I was a teacher thinking about moving roles, here's exactly how I'd prepare:

1. Update your CV this week. Not perfectly, just done. Most recent role at the top, anything older than 10 years condensed. Get it off the to-do list!

2. Audit your experience honestly. What age groups, subjects, key stages have you actually covered? What's missing that might come up at interview? Now you know where to focus.

3. Plan how to fill the gaps. A short CPD course, asking to cover a different year group this term, volunteering for a subject lead opportunity.

4. Diary your notice date and work backwards. If you want to start somewhere new in January, your resignation needs to be in by the October half term deadline.

5. Get your references warmed up. A quick message to your referees letting them know you might be moving and asking if they're still happy to be named. Nothing stalls a placement faster than a reference that goes cold.

6. Register with an agency before you start applying anywhere. We know which schools in your new area are genuinely good to work in, not just the ones that look good on paper. A 15 minute conversation can save you months of guesswork.

Careers Day!

One of our local schools asked us to take part in their Careers Day. As part of their employment curriculum, they invite in local businesses to explore the world of work.

Kat, our Beverley Branch Manager headed over today to spend time with their Y3 and Y4 classes. Some brilliant ideas from the pupils and some interesting dream jobs.
