I wish more legal professionals knew that a great CV isn’t a long one.

Your CV has around 30 seconds to make an impression. Here’s how to make every one of them count:

📌 Lead with the essentials. Your role, practice area and level of experience (including PQE and admission details if you’re qualified) belong at the top, not buried on page two.
📌 Write a sharp opening summary. Three or four lines on who you are, what you specialise in and what you’re looking for next.
📌 Show your work, not just your duties. Matters supported, caseload size, deal values, outcomes achieved. Specifics stand out.
📌 Tailor it. A CV for an in-house role should read differently to one for private practice.
📌 Keep it clean. Two pages, clear headings, consistent formatting. If it’s hard to skim, it won’t be read.

A fantastic morning at Wilkin Chapman Rollits’ first EducaTED event for Hull and East Yorkshire, held at The Manor Rooms. 👏

Our Director, Rachel, joined school leaders to hear from speakers on wellbeing, resilience and managing performance, along with practical updates on the latest DfE guidance and Academy Trust Handbook changes.

Leadership, the Ted Lasso way! ⚽ It was a fun way to look at it, but the message behind it really stuck: success and inclusion for all matter.

Hearing these topics from a school’s perspective helps us understand the pressures our clients face, so we can support them even better.

Today is World Mental Health Day. 💙

Working in schools is rewarding, but it can be heavy too. Long days, busy classrooms and a lot of caring for other people can leave very little left over for yourself.

As part of the Hull and East Yorkshire Mind Business Wellbeing Charter, we take that seriously, for our team and for every colleague we place.
