Their mission is to support individuals and families living with disability, autism and brain injury to live the lives they choose.

This is an excellent role with a great remuneration package for an experienced support worker, with pay rates starting at £11.44, as well as other benefits, such as Sick Pay, Cycle to work scheme, company pension and extra annual leave.

The role of Support Assistant requires a team approach at all times with effective working relationships for the benefit of the service user. Support Workers assist service users with activities of daily living and facilitate inclusion of service users in a broad range of activities. This is all done in accordance with the service users individual personal care and support needs.

In order to be successful for the role you will need:

At least 1 year caring experience within a care setting( hospital, nursing home, supported living environment)
Good numeracy and literacy skills
Interest in working with people in a caring environment
The right to work within the UK
Able to provide 2 satisfactory references, of which one must be from your current or most recent employer
Registered with NISCC or willingness to register once appointed

Some of the responsibilities include:

Ensure that all work within the scheme is service user focused and upholds the principles of respect, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, independence and choice.
Deliver individual person centred programmes of support, for example, support with personal care, meals, social activities, and some light domestic support. Promote independence with service users where appropriate
Work in collaboration with Line Manager to assess individual service user needs.
Report any changes in, or concerns about, individual service users to their line manager.
Ensure daily records of work carried out are maintained within Service User files and maintain all other records as required.
Comply with organisations Health and Safety Policy.
Conduct all activities in a manner which is safe to themselves and others.
Willingness to undertake mandatory training.
Willingness to partake in personal development.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Committed to ensuring the provision of high quality person centred services.

In return you can expect:

· Pay rate between £11.44 and £12.75

· Annual Leave 5.6 weeks in each leave year (inclusive of public and statutory holidays). This increases with length of service, up to 33 days per year.

at least 6 months caring experience
learning disabilities and challenging behaviour experience is desired, however not essential

Key activities of the post:

Build a positive and supportive rapport with residents. Putting Human Rights at the centre of all care delivery.
Implement individual programmes of care with support from the Management team.
Meet the daily care needs of residents, providing a high standard of care and support with guidance from the team. This includes personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, meal support and using the bathroom.
Provide care in a safe environment through participation in learning and development programmes. Examples of this are, MAPA (Managing Actual and Potential Aggression), Understanding and Implementing Positive Behaviour Support, Reflective Practice Sessions and understanding your role in Safeguarding.
Assist residents to take part in meaningful individualised activities and provide support for social inclusion.
Participate in maintaining a high quality of daily records with support from the senior care team.
Understanding of individual risk management plans and how to ensure these are implemented safely and with a person’s Human Rights at the centre.
Understand the health and safety requirements of the role from training, ensuring to report any concerns to management.
To perform the job in accordance with the company’s policy and procedures, Northern Ireland Social Care Council Standards and to report any concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
Work closely with health professionals and people who are important to each individual resident to ensure positive care delivery for the individual.
Take part in the training and development activities in order to carry out the role safely and successfully.
