If ever there was a recipe for a cracking wedding, I think Karen and Brian got it spot on. I absolutely loved getting to know them and sharing their story with close family and friends at the stunning Wool Tower in Broughshane. A truly beautiful couple embracing all that life throws their way with love, friendship and humour 🩷

Choosing a name is a big moment. My clever mum gave me a middle name that used both my grandmother's names to honour them and I love the story behind it. A naming ceremony is a lovely way to celebrate your choice - bringing together family and friends to welcome your child, share your hopes for their future and mark the beginning of their story in a really personal and meaningful way. Thinking about a naming ceremony for your little one? Message me to find out more ✨
And how cute was I as a baby btw?!

Please excuse the dodgy dancing! But I thought it was important to celebrate a few things today. Big thanks to my son Hamish for his editing skills!

My gorgeous parents are 58 years married today 🥰 I've always celebrated their anniversary, even as a young girl I remember making them cards and writing poems to mark the day. I think I've always appreciated how special their relationship is, my wee face in the first photo shows that pretty clearly! They have navigated the many ups and downs of their life together with unwavering love, friendship and support for each other. This chapter is particularly tough, especially for mum but she cares for dad with such patience and kindness. A true love that I am very grateful to witness. #

It was a nostalgic trip to the 1980s for two wonderful human beings, Karen and Niall, I even sang a bit of Bros (thankfully it was a small intimate wedding so not too many heard my dulcet tones 😊) Niall was the Bros fan, for Karen it was heavy metal so at the time their paths crossed but they went their own way until a good few years later. They share a love of Fermanagh and The Manor House in particular so this was the ideal place for them to tie the knot. It was so much fun getting to know these two fantastic people and be part of their day. They did their wedding, their way - Karen McGowan .mcgowan.5

Funerals are never easy — but they don’t have to be all sadness, they can still hold moments of comfort, connection, and love. Kind words like this remind me how powerful a thoughtful, personal farewell can be.

This year I’ve met a lot of families to help them honour and celebrate the life of someone they love.

I’ve researched things I never expected to know much about —Small details that mattered deeply to someone and therefore mattered to me.

I’ve learned about a variety of lives — work, friendships, music, beliefs, illnesses, places, routines. I’ve gently manoeuvred around difficult family dynamics and dark moments. I've met some amazing people.

I’m always aware that I come into people’s lives at a time they didn’t choose. I’m grateful to the families who trusted me to listen carefully and to do my best for their loved ones.

As I reflect on this year, I am forever thankful for the care, the kindness and the humanity I witness - not just from friends and family but from the many professionals working in funeral care.

So, I'll just say a genuine and massive thank you to all the couples I had the privilege of marrying this year and that I can't wait to work with all my lovely 2026 ones!

We helped mum put up her Christmas tree yesterday and this decoration was given pride of place. It was given to her in memory of a dear friend who absolutely loved Christmas. Such a beautiful idea, keeping his memory alive. This time of year can be difficult for a lot of people. Just a reminder to be kind to yourself and each other 🤍
