Autumn is on the way 🍂✈️

Yesterday’s flying at Headcorn brought with it one of those beautifully atmospheric mornings, a light autumn mist hanging over the Kent countryside early in the morning and some spectacular views from the air.

There’s something rather special about seeing the landscape change with the seasons from the cockpit of a Spitfire.

Another memorable day of flying as our 2026 season starts drawing to a close.

Can you believe we’re almost at the end of another flying season?

Yesterday was one of those days that reminded us exactly why we do what we do. Two Spitfires, Charlie and Parky at the controls, taking to the skies for some incredible formation flying, with some fantastic customers joining us for the experience, including those who had travelled from the other side of the world to fly with us.

As our flying season draws to a close, a huge thank you goes to our pilots, incredible volunteers, ground crew and the whole Aero Legends team who work so hard behind the scenes to make these days happen. And, of course, thank you to every single person who has chosen to fly with us this year.

We deliberately held a block of September dates in reserve to accommodate any passengers affected by weather cancellations earlier in the season. With those passengers now booked in, we have just 9 spaces remaining — and these will be our final Mach Loop flying dates of the year.

This weekend at North Weald, Aero Legends has had the privilege of flying one of the most recognisable Spitfires in the world, the Silver Spitfire, MJ271.

Built in 1943, this remarkable Mk IX is a genuine wartime veteran. Decades later, she made aviation history once again, becoming the first Spitfire to fly around the world.

Now, with Parky at the controls, she’s taking to the skies at North Weald as part of our Aero Legends passenger flying, giving our customers the chance to experience an extraordinary piece of aviation history in flight.

From those flying in the Silver Spitfire herself to customers watching her in the air from our Fly With a Spitfire helicopter experience, it has been a very special weekend at North Weald.
