This National Fish and Chip Day, we're celebrating one of the UK's best-loved meals and the important role seafood plays in our culture and coastal economy. ๐ŸŸ

Fish is one of nature's most sustainable and renewable sources of protein - wild caught from our seas and delivered fresh to our plates.

Today is a chance to celebrate more than a comfort-food classic but to recognise the value of the seafood industry and the people who keep it moving.

After seven years as Chief Executive of the Scottish Fishermen's Federation, Elspeth Macdonald has announced she will retire from the organisation in March 2027.

Elspeth took up the role in 2019 and has been an exceptional advocate for Scotland's fishing industry through some of the most significant challenges in its history, from Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic to the successful campaign against Highly Protected Marine Areas.

Her knowledge, professionalism and unwavering commitment to Scotland's fishermen has earned her widespread respect across the industry, in government and beyond.

On behalf of everyone in Scotland's fishing industry - thank you, Elspeth. ๐ŸŽฃ

๐Ÿ”ท Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm (NnG) wishes to advise fishermen that inter-array cables have been installed within their consented development area. The project wishes to provide the cable route information to the fishing industry via Horizon Watch to support awareness of the installed infrastructure to assist in safe fishing operations within the vicinity of the wind farm.

These files are available to download in fishing plotter file formats for industry use from the SFF website under the โ€œsafe seasโ€ section and are intended to provide fishermen with improved awareness of the location of installed inter-array cables.

๐Ÿ”ท Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm (NnG) wishes to advise fishermen that a rock protection campaign has been successfully completed on the inter-array cables within the NnG Offshore Wind Farm area. A Notice to Mariners (NtM) (NtM 187 Revision 44) was issued by NnG to this effect on 16 March 2026, which included a list of as-laid coordinates of the rock-protection locations over the inter-array cables.

While the NtM sets out the as-laid coordinates, the attached Fishermenโ€™s Advisory Note has been published to further notify the fishing industry of the infrastructure which has been installed, as well as providing a link to reference fishing plotter files created by SFF under Horizon Watch, detailing the rock-protection locations.
