We've been exclusively retained by a brilliant privately owned business in the Aberdeen area, to recruit their new Financial Controller. It’s also one of those roles where the job title only tells you half the story...
Yes, you’ll take ownership of finance; managing the accounts function, reporting, budgeting, cash flow and controls. But our client is looking for much more than that.
They want someone who will work closely with the management team and become genuinely involved in helping them run the business. You’ll understand the financial performance of different operations, get involved in commercial decisions, support funding discussions and contribute to tenders for new work.
Importantly, you’ll also get out from behind the desk. This is an operational business, and they want their Financial Controller to develop a proper understanding of how it works, spending time with different parts of the organisation rather than simply reporting on them from finance.
The company is established, profitable and financially strong, with a remarkably loyal team and further investment planned.
This will suit someone who enjoys being close to the action - someone who wants to understand why the numbers look the way they do, who is comfortable working directly with business leaders and who enjoys using finance to influence what happens next. Previous experience of managing the finances, plus wider responsibilities, is essential.
