If three interviews haven't given you the answer, a fourth one won't either.

What the fourth round usually means is that nobody agreed on the criteria before the first one. So the team keeps meeting the candidate hoping clarity will arrive on its own.

Three things a fourth round actually costs you:

Time. Each added round adds roughly a week, and strong candidates are typically off the market in two to three.
Signal. By round four you're measuring interview stamina, not job performance.
Trust. Candidates read endless rounds as an organisation that can't decide, and they wonder what working there will feel like.

A process that works: a screening call, a structured skills conversation, and a final session with the decision maker. Criteria agreed in writing before the first call, one shared scorecard, feedback within 48 hours.
