Bringing Egypt’s heritage to life through art and language! 🇪🇬🎨

This week in Alexandria, our young participants painted some of their country’s most iconic landmarks using watercolours. From majestic temples and ancient tombs to impressive castles, each artwork reflected the children’s unique perspective and creativity. 🖌️👀

Alongside the artistic activity, the children learned English vocabulary related to monuments, including temple, castle, tomb, pyramid, and monument. 📚🆎 Through art and non-formal education, they strengthened both their language skills and their connection to Egypt’s rich cultural heritage. 🌍✨

Every painting was a celebration of creativity, learning, and the beauty of their country. ❤️🇪🇬

🐋💙 Learning, creating, and growing together!

🤝 We kicked off this week’s workshop with a fun energizer designed to strengthen teamwork, cooperation, and group cohesion, setting the stage for a collaborative learning experience.

♻️ Together, the children created a large recycled whale using plastic bags, with each participant adding their own piece to the final artwork. This collective creation became a beautiful symbol of teamwork, environmental awareness, and the idea that every contribution matters.

📚 We then combined English learning with creativity by exploring the word “whale” and other rhyming or similar words such as mail, fairytale, snail, and tail. Through this playful language activity, the children expanded their English vocabulary while discovering new connections between words.

🎨 Inspired by these new words, each child illustrated either a whale or one of the vocabulary words in their own unique way. Every drawing reflected their imagination, creativity, and personal interpretation, proving that learning a language can be both artistic and fun.

🎭♻️ Turning recycled materials into endless imagination!

This week in Alexandria, our young participants gave a second life to everyday materials by creating puppets using cardboard rolls and other recycled items. From curious cats 🐱 and friendly cows 🐄 to playful crocodiles 🐊 and colorful caterpillars 🐛, every puppet reflected the children’s creativity and unique ideas.

🎨 Using simple materials, the children explored different shapes, colours, and textures while expressing themselves through art and storytelling. No two creations were the same, proving that imagination has no limits!

🌱 Beyond the creative process, this workshop also encouraged environmental awareness by showing how recycled materials can be transformed into something fun, meaningful, and full of life. Through non-formal education, the children developed their creativity, fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in expressing their own ideas.

🌸🕊️ Creativity takes flight!

✂️♻️This week in Alexandria, our young participants explored the fascinating world of birds through a fun and creative craft activity. Using recycled paper, they made beautiful storks and flamingos, then brought them to life by colouring and decorating each one with their own unique style. 🎨✨

📚 As part of our non-formal education approach, we combined creativity with learning by introducing English vocabulary related to birds, their body parts, and their natural habitats. The children also discovered why flamingos are pink, turning a simple craft activity into an exciting opportunity to learn about nature and science. 🦩🌍

🌱 Through art, storytelling, and language, the workshop encouraged creativity, curiosity, and active participation while helping the children develop their English skills in a playful and engaging way.

💛 Every workshop is another opportunity to learn, imagine, and grow together. Thank you very much to our volunteers and members of Torraha who made it possible, and especially who honored us with her presence for the first time !

🌟 Today, let’s begin a recap of Torraha’s work in 2026 with its latest volunteers in Siwa and Alexandria !🌴✨

From march to June, Torraha had the chance to welcome in Siwa an ESC volunteer the organization will never forget.

From the very first day, Malo brought more than his skills and his ideas. Through the workshops every week, his dedication at Ola’s Restaurant, and the countless everyday moments shared with our team, he left something far more valuable than completed tasks : he left memories.
And especially with his daily interactions with the local youth at the restaurant, which served as an excellent chance to share cultures, create connections, and inspire them to develop their potential 🤍🚀

If some people visits a place, some become part of its story. And Malo did exactly that, because volunteering is not only about giving your time, but also about leaving a piece of your heart wherever you go. 🌍

We will remember you for all the souvenirs that remains in the restaurant : whether it is the flower bottles, origamis artworks, drawings, pots, the doghouse or mosaics. 🦢🐶🧩🎨

But even more importantly for all the smiles you created and all the unforgettable moments you shared with all the people whose path crossed yours. 😊

Thank you for becoming part of the restaurant family. Siwa will always be a place you can call home, and we’ll be waiting to welcome you back whenever the desert brings you our way. 🌴🤍

Summer, colors & creativity 🌞🎨

🍓🍦☀️ This week’s workshop in Alexandria invited the children to explore the theme of summer through mandala sheets. Each child brought their own touch of color to the drawings, expressing focus, calm, and personal interpretation of the season 🌺

🗣️📚 As part of our non-formal education approach, we also used this creative moment to build English vocabulary related to summer as well as words starting with specific letters, turning art into a playful language learning experience.

🎨 Through colors, shapes, and words, the children connected creativity with expression, learning in a fun and interactive way.

Nature as a tool for creativity 🍃🎨

Our latest workshop in Siwa encouraged children to turn nature into art by using tree leaves as natural stamps. Along the way, they practiced stamping techniques and explored the exciting world of color mixing ✨

With curiosity and imagination, they transformed simple leaves into unique creations, proving that creativity can be found everywhere 🌿
