Carnival in Germany, known locally as „Karneval“, „Fastnacht“ or „Fasching“ is an annual celebration, deeply rooted in German culture. The festivities kick off on November 11th at 11:11 AM but reach their peak in February. 🎉🤡
People are usually wearing costumes, there`s cheerful music and everybody ist singing and dancing. The colourful and impressive parades in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Mainz, draw spectators from around the world. In the Southern parts of the country the celebrations are more mystical and traditional celebrations with eerie wooden masks and historic costumes.
Carnival brings all communities together in shared experience of joy, creativity and a break from everyday life and it serves as a reminder that winter is almost over and spring is coming.
