Everyone focuses on the move ✈️
Flights, shipping, the new job.

But the part that actually makes or breaks it usually shows up later.

Not in the office.
At home 🏡

I’ve seen great hires struggle, not because the role was wrong, but because real life in a new country felt very different than expected.⚡️⚡️

That’s the part I help people think through now. Before the move, not after 🌍

Most people don’t need help getting the job in Europe.🇪🇺

They get the offer.

They sign.

And then reality hits.💥

That’s the moment where everything becomes unclear:

The move.🧳

The expectations.

The things no one thought through in advance.

That’s where I step in.🛟

I support individuals and companies after the decision is made, but before the move happens.

Not logistics. Preparation.

So people don’t just arrive.

They arrive ready.💅🏻

Thinking about moving to Europe for work? 🌍

Over the years, a lot of people have sent me some version of the same message:

“Can you find me a job in Germany?”

I get why the idea is appealing. A new country,
a different pace of life, the chance to reset things a bit.

But relocating for work is also one of the biggest life decisions you can make.

The conversations that go best usually start with a bit of honesty about a few realities:

🌍 relocation rarely affects just one career

💰 compensation systems work differently across countries

🧭 and the real question underneath it all is why you want to move in the first place

I made the move from the US to Germany 17 years ago.
What started as a temporary adventure turned into the life I’ve built here.

If working in Europe has crossed your mind at some point, you’re definitely not the only one wondering about it lately!✨

💎 Clarity is a competitive advantage.

When a recruiter reaches out, most people focus on the role.

The smarter move?
Focus on how you’re showing up in the conversation.🗣️

If you can clearly articulate:

• what you actually want
• what you won’t compromise on
• what would make you say yes

You’re already ahead.

You don’t need to perform. You need to know yourself.

That’s what changes interview and hiring outcomes. 🎯

😰 The pressure to get hiring right just went up.

Because things are moving again 🐎

Roles that sat open for months are closing.
Pipelines built 6–12 months ago are paying off.

But even when you’re hiring, you can still feel unsafe.

You've got:
Pressure from investors.
Pressure from leadership.
Pressure to make the “right” call.

Future-proofing your hiring isn’t about moving faster.
It’s about moving intentionally.♟️

Build before you need.
Position before you panic.
Decide before urgency decides for you.

The market is shifting. ⏳ Make sure you are, too.

You can still have a job and not feel safe right now.

I’m hearing this from a lot of people lately. Nothing dramatic has happened to them personally, but layoffs, budget freezes, and reorganizations around them are changing the atmosphere at work.

And no boss can promise your job is completely safe. That’s just reality right now.

What can help is shifting from waiting and worrying into small actions that remind you you’re still contributing and still in the game.

This week’s reminder:
🎯Focus on what you can influence, not what you can predict.

What’s one small action helping you feel steadier at work? 💬

Last week, I shared about sitting in the client seat during a coaching session and realizing how much of my energy had been going to things I can’t control.

This week was about what happened after.

My coach asked me one simple question before we ended the session: What’s one thing you’re willing to change this week?

For me, it was information intake. When I check the news. How often. And what I actually let into my day.

Nothing dramatic. Just a few small adjustments that helped me feel steadier again.

It’s funny how one small agreement you actually follow through on can shift an entire week.

Still paying attention. Still practicing. Still learning.

Things feel shaky right now.

I’ve been talking a lot about overwhelm lately. First the holidays. Then the pressure of January. And now… something else has taken over.

A lot of us aren’t stuck on goals anymore. We’re just trying to feel steady.

This week, I put myself in the client seat and did a simple coaching exercise around control and influence. No big breakthroughs. No fixing the world.

Just an honest look at where my energy is actually going. And a small decision to pull some of it back into places where I still have agency.

That alone helped more than I expected.

Sharing this because I know I’m not the only one feeling it. And because sometimes steadiness starts with one small adjustment, not a grand plan.

If this resonates, I’d love to hear what helps you steady yourself when things get noisy.

Last month, I wrote about the Lighthouse.
As a coaching metaphor: orienting when things feel messy or loud.

Then I went home for the holidays.
Back to the San Francisco Bay.
Back to the water I grew up around.

Standing under this bridge, it hit me how much my relationship with water has shaped how I move through life, and how I coach. When things feel overwhelming, I don’t grasp for more answers. I look for orientation. For what helps me see.

January energy is crazy like that.
Everyone’s talking fresh starts, but a lot of us are really thinking: “Help! Where do I even begin?”

For me, this trip home felt like a reset in the best way.
A reminder that sometimes clarity doesn’t come from pushing forward. It’s about remembering where you come from.

Back to my home waters.🌊
Now back to my lighthouse in Germany.🫶🏼
And back to seeing what’s actually in front of me.🤲🏼

What helps you find your bearings when everything feels a bit loud?

If you could use a steadier place to stand as the year wraps up, this is for you.🎁

I live on an island in southern Germany: Lindau. And there’s a lighthouse here that I walk past almost every day. Over time, it’s become a reminder for me of how I want to show up for others. Not louder. Not faster. Just steady, honest, grounded.

This season is full. The world feels…loud. And it’s easy to lose your footing when everything stacks up at once.

You don’t have to fix everything before January. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Sometimes it’s enough to notice the story you’re telling yourself and decide whether it still fits.

If a light could guide you into the new year 🌟 where would you want it to shine first?
