The Wage Subsidy Program through WorkBC helps cover a portion of employee wages in exchange for on-the-job training and work experience.

Benefits for Employers:

- Reduce cost of hiring and training new employees
- Get coverage of a portion of employee wages
- Fill vacant positions
- Get disability supports to reduce work-related barriers for employees

WorkBC Client Vaughn said "I thought that doors were closed to me but through this Wage Subsidy program it has made me more aware of the open doors." ✨

Through the WorkBC Wage Subsidy program, a local business was provided with a subsidy that covered a portion of Vaughn's wage while he learned the new job. This allowed the business to expand its workforce with help to offset the costs to invest in the training and development of a new hire.

WorkBC Vernon is excited to announce the next cohort of In Motion & Momentum+ (IM&M+) starts November 17th! ✨

IM&M+ is a transformational 10-week career development program.

This program is radically participant-centred and solutions-focused.

We meet you where you’re at, and the pressure to “find a job immediately” is taken away: whatever you want your goal to be, that’s the goal of the program.

We want you to live the life you want to live, and through IM&M+ you’re given support and time to figure out what that may be.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day is a time to honor the survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, and to remember those who never returned home.

WorkBC Vernon is proud to work alongside the Syilx (Okanagan) and Secwepemc (Shuswap) peoples, including the Okanagan Indian Band and Splatsin First Nation.

We recognize that we operate on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territories of both the Syilx and Secwepemc peoples.

This day offers a chance for meaningful reflection on the tragic legacy of residential schools and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. It is a time to acknowledge the profound resilience and enduring culture of Indigenous Peoples.

Reminder, our location is closed today for the statutory holiday. WorkBC Centre Vernon will reopen on Thursday, October 1st at 9 AM.
