Women in Kenya are out of work at roughly twice the rate of men and the jobs they do find tend to disappear with the harvest… which is what makes the Women’s Co-op in Meru worth talking about once again today.

👩‍🌾 Production, agriculture and quality control are all run by women, over eighty families depend on the income and it holds through the dry season when so many other “seasonal” jobs are wrapped up.

That’s over 600,000 families producing the majority of tea in the world’s largest black tea exporting country and most people have no idea! Our partners in Nandi Hills are part of that 60% and we’ve been working with them directly since 2013 🤝
