That's great! Honestly, if someone is kind and smart enough to adopt instead of buying from a breeder or pet store, they probably already have what it takes to be a great pet parent. The people who really need the education are the ones who buy their pets—almost 100% of them, myself included. Starting out ignorant is no excuse to stay that way.
South Korea is introducing new requirements for aspiring pet owners.
Under a new policy, individuals looking to adopt a pet will be required to complete an educational program focused on responsible ownership. The initiative is designed to promote informed adoption decisions and help address issues like abandonment and improper care.
Officials say the training will cover topics such as animal welfare, long-term responsibilities and basic pet care — part of a broader effort to strengthen adoption standards nationwide.
