Community Harvest is hiring a seasonal garden facilitator- the person in this role will be responsible for bottom lining the watering and weeding of the gardens, working with the Gardens Manager to plant and harvest for our pay-what-you-can Community Harvest Markets!

Hey folks, we are looking for leaves for our garden (if you don't use any chemicals in your yard, and if they aren't mixed in with giant plants from your garden). We can pick up your bags of leaves on Friday morning! Please message this account or leave a note below if you have some yard waste bags ready to pick up! We are looking for 80-100 bags, and preferably from Kingscourt neighbourhood so we don't have to drive around too much. Thanks!

Community Harvest Markets Open Tomorrow, June13, 2023!

At the Community Harvest Markets, all items on the table are available at a sliding scale, $0-5 per item. With this dignified access model, we allow people to choose what they like from a broad array of fresh, local food, and everyone is treated with the same respect regardless of how much they pay.

We use agro-ecological principles at all of our garden sites, meaning all plants are grown without herbicides and pesticides, and we aim to build healthy living soil and agricultural ecosystems!

You'll find beautiful, affordable, fresh produce grown for community! As of this year, every item at our markets has a sliding scale from $1-5. Pay what you can!

We are so happy to have Jean on the Community Harvest team. Her passion for food and health and her positive attitude makes her an excellent addition to our team. She will be running our Community Harvest markets this growing season. Welcome, Jean!

Jean has always had a love for food which led her to complete a Bachelors in Nutritional Sciences. She has worked with a diverse population to teach them about the role of nutrition and health. Jean has always wanted to learn more about agriculture and upon seeing the opportunity to work in a more hands-on job, she joined Loving Spoonful in May 2022 as the Community Harvest Facilitator. On days off, Jean enjoys hiking, acro yoga, cooking and eating good food.

We had some MAJOR help in the Community Harvest Garden in April with our garden expansion. 10 people showed up on a workbee morning and made short work of lugging waterlogged sod to a truck to be taken away as compost.
THANKS very much to members of RM Troop from CFJSR from CFB Kingston for coming out and changing the labour dynamic- from daunting to manageable!
