As your role grows, your compensation may need to grow with it.

If you’re thinking about asking for a raise, don’t just focus on how long you’ve been with the family. Think about what you’ve accomplished, how your responsibilities have changed, the skills and certifications you’ve added, and the value you bring to the family.

And ideally, compensation reviews should not be a surprise. Ask about raises and performance reviews during the interview so everyone knows what to expect.

Your work has value. Know what you’re bringing to the table and be prepared to talk about it.

The bag that comes with me whenever we leave the house!

I don’t usually need it when we’re at home because the family already has what we need. But when we’re heading out, I like knowing I have the little essentials ready to go.

If you’re about to accept a nanny contract, slow down and check the details first.

These are five red flags you should never ignore before you say yes to a role:
No written agreement, unclear schedule, pay that doesn’t match your experience, poor communication, and boundaries that feel blurred from the start.

A good position feels clear, respectful, and stable from day one. If it doesn’t, it usually doesn’t improve later.
