As I look back on 2023, it's been a year filled with twists and turns, moments of triumph, and challenges that pushed me to grow. Despite the lows, the highlights shine brighter, reminding me of the dreams I dared to chase.

Stepping out of my comfort zone wasn't easy, but every fear conquered opened doors to possibilities I never imagined. A simple dream transformed into a journey of resilience, determination, and self-discovery.

This is a testament to the power of starting, of taking that first step towards something meaningful. To anyone hesitating, remember that you can truly achieve anything with the right mindset and a willingness to begin.

To those who supported me along this path, thank you for being a part of my story. Your trust in my journey and your encouragement have been invaluable. Together, we navigated the twists and celebrated the victories.

As we welcome 2024, I'm filled with excitement for what lies ahead. May the new year bring fresh opportunities, growth, and joy. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! 🎉

🌟 Two years ago, I took a leap of faith and launch my Career Coaching Business. As an HR Professional I was tired of seeing the lack of representation from equity deserving communities, especially the black community and felt it was time for a change.

🚀 Launching my business wasn't without uncertainty. I didn't have a clear vision initially, but I was driven by the desire to create a positive impact. Two years later, I can proudly say that I have more clarity and focus, reaffirming that I'm on the right path.

For so many, Mother's Day can be a day full of joy and fulfillment for being a Mom and, for others it's a day that hurts deeply because it's another year they're still longing and waiting to be a Mom.

My journey to motherhood hasn't been a conventional one. 7 years of trying to conceive, multiple surgeries due to endometriosis and fibroids and many failed IVFs and miscarriages that led us to surrogacy and our beautiful baby girl.

The saying "it takes a village to raise/grow a child holds so true to me."

So on this Mother's day I want to dedicate this post especially to:

💜 Mothers who have lost their mom
💛 Mothers in Waiting

Remember your resume is your chance for you to make a great first impression. Take the time to get it right!

Here's some tips to craft the perfect resume:

1.  Start with a Strong Introduction

The top of your resume should include a strong summary statement that highlights your experience and qualifications. This should be tailored to the specific job you are applying for.

2.  Focus on Achievements, Not Just Duties

When describing your work experience, focus on your accomplishments, not just your duties. Use numbers and specific examples to illustrate your impact on the company.

3.  Keep it Concise

Your resume should be no longer than two pages. Keep it concise and to the point, highlighting only the most relevant information.

4.  Tailor Your Resume to the Job

Every job is different, so every resume should be different too. Tailor your resume to the specific job you are applying for, highlighting the skills and experience that are most relevant.

5.  Use Keywords

Many companies use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to sort through resumes. Make sure your resume includes keywords from the job description to increase your chances of getting noticed.

6.  Check for Errors

Nothing will turn off a potential employer faster than a resume riddled with errors. Make sure you proofread your resume multiple times and have someone else check it too.

Hello Hello!

It has been a minute since I posted on here.I can't believe it has been 1yr+ since I started this new venture. It truly has been very fulfilling.

But first can we talk about Imposter Syndrome just for a little bit? Phew..this is so real and I dealt with it for quite some time but so happy I was able to move forward despite the voice in my head saying I am not good enough.

Despite not having a strong social media presence I have had the opportunity to coach 20+ professionals and partner with a top university in Toronto. It has been a great challenge yet rewarding at the same time.

I plan to get back on social media to share with you some great strategies to help you move forward in your career so look out for more from me here.

To be transparent, it took me approximately a year to launch this business. Not because I did not believe I had the experience or qualifications, or I did not know how to get it started but more so because of fear; fear of failure, fear that I won't be good enough, fear that no one will want my help, but I had to overcome that fear and take a step forward and and I did it.

I didn't let fear cripple me. So many times we let fear overcome us that we are afraid to make that change in our life; whether it be that job, that relationship, etc.

Here's a reminder that as scary as it seems do it anyways.

I will be happy to help you along your career journey and help you elevate you career to the next level.

I am Leah Carr.

I was born and raised in the beautiful, island of St. Vincent & the Grenadines. As a little girl I always dreamt of moving to a BIG country to further my studies and live the "American/Canadian Dream".

At age 19, I did just that. I left my island and migrated to Toronto, Canada for a chance for a better education and a better life, leaving my family and friends behind for a new home. As a Black, immigrant woman the journey has not been easy, but I continue to persevere.
I began my career in HR right after graduation and have never looked back.

I have applied my education working in the Hospitality, Construction, Manufacturing and Non-Profit Sector.
With over a decade of success as a Human Resources Professional, I have the unique perspective of all sides of the recruitment process; hiring manager, recruiter, and candidate.

Early in my career I was excited for any opportunity and was willing toaccept whatever offer was given to me, without understanding my true worth and value. I was too scared to negotiate, afraid of how a company would respond to any counter offers. Can you relate?

Through many years and experiences, I have acquired the art of negotiating ensuring compensation for your value. I've interviewed 1000s of applicants, supported clients with complete resume renovations that have landed them successful career opportunities. I am ready to share my knowledge and strategies to help you elevate to your desired career level.

When I am not working, you can find me spending quality time with my husband and daughter, which includes Sunday drives exploring the city. I also enjoy volunteering at my local church and am a DIYer at heart who is always looking for that next exciting.
