It is week six of our 10 weeks of giving back to celebrate Forte Workplace Law's 10th anniversary.

This week, we are giving back to Sharp Workplaces BC by making a donation.

SHARP Workplaces provides up to 5 hours of free legal advice for anyone who has experienced workplace sexual harassment in BC.

There are so many barriers to survivors getting legal advice, and the removal of the cost barrier is so important.

Our team’s involvement with SHARP goes back many years, though volunteer work in supporting SHARP roster lawyers and advocates by leading training and contributing to their practice manual, and several lawyers on our team providing low bono services as SHARP roster lawyers.

Thank you to SHARP and CLAS for all of the important work you do to make our workplaces safer.

We are so grateful to have had 7 amazing years with Katelynn Denny on our team as a lawyer and investigator, and as a shareholder in the firm.

Katelynn is one of our most experienced workplace investigators and has conducted many complex investigations across a range of sectors, as well as sports and academic investigations. Katelynn also maintains a busy employment law advisory practice, with a particular focus on advising not-for-profit and healthcare employers. Known for her calm, thoughtful and non-judgemental approach, clients and colleagues call Katelynn when things get thorny.

We are celebrating five years with the incredible @ sarah ewart on our team at Forte Workplace Law.
Sarah is one of our most seasoned workplace investigators and has conducted investigations across public and private sector industries. Sarah is also an active member of our labour practice group and has been co-counsel on several leading labour arbitrations, She also advises workers and businesses on employment law and human rights matters. Feedback from Sarah’s clients notes her balanced approach, maintaining connection and compassion with logic and strength.

An avid arts supporter, Sarah has introduced many on our team to immersive theatre productions and was the creative force behind turning our annual retreat into an immersive camp experience.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and there are many ways to take time to listen, learn and reflect.

One happening right here in our community is the 6th Annual Walk for Truth and Reconciliation, hosted by Semiahmoo First Nation.

This year’s keynote speaker is Phyllis Webstad, residential school survivor and CEO and co-founder of the Orange Shirt Society. Her story and advocacy have helped bring the message that Every Child Matters to people across Canada.

It is week three of our 10 weeks of giving back to celebrate Forte Workplace Law’s 10th anniversary!

On Tuesday, Sara Forte is a volunteer panelist at the How She Made This event discussing Business, Career and Parenthood. How She Made This is a talk series with real-life insights from ♀-identifying, trans-feminine, & gender-diverse entrepreneurs, creatives, & leaders. All genders welcome.

Also on Tuesday, our team is doing a shoreline cleanup on Semiahmoo First Nation lands, with permission from SFN.

Wednesday is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, and our team will be volunteering at Semiahmoo First Nation’s 6th Annual Walk for Truth & Reconciliation.

This week (and always) we acknowledge that we work and live on the unceded territories of the SEMYOME (Semiahmoo), the q̓ʷa:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), alongside the self-governing Modern Treaty Lands of the sc̓əwaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen). It is hard to imagine at time before Jessica Forman joined our team at Forte Workplace Law. It has been an incredible 6 years.

Jessica is a key driver of our team’s work and wellbeing as a member of our leadership team, head of people, and lead of our investigations practice group. Jessica is a sought-after workplace investigator and has conducted many complex investigations across sectors.

Jessica also keeps a busy employment advisory practice, advising workers and businesses. Clients frequently leave glowing google reviews of their experiences working with Jessica.

As one of our team who likes to travel, Jessica is known to join calls and meetings from remote locations, usually by an ocean.

We are celebrating 4 years with Natalie Rougeau on our team at Forte Workplace Law.

Natalie’s leadership of our legal operations and her ability to create workflow efficiencies sometimes seems like magic. Natalie’s projects with our firm have been recognized globally with two awards from The International Institute of Legal Project Management

Multi-talented, Natalie is a natural problem solver and she brings contagious energy and enthusiasm to the office.

It is week two of our 10 weeks of giving back to celebrate Forte Workplace Law’s 10th anniversary!

On Tuesday, we are sponsoring and Sara Forte is hosting Connections in Full Bloom, a Canadian Bar Association - BC Branch (CBABC) Women Lawyers’ Forum event at Five Acres Flower Farm in Abbotsford. All genders welcome.

Also on Tuesday, Naya Dhatt is leading a workshop on Human Rights for the law student practitioners at the UBC Indigenous Community Legal Clinic.

On Thursday, the surrey bar association Inns of Court program begins. We are proud to be a returning sponsor of the Inns of Court, which is a low cost program that provides opportunities to learn and practice litigation skills and fosters meaningful and lasting mentoring relationship between newer calls and experienced counsel and judges.

This week (and always) we are thankful to our colleagues in the legal profession who refer us clients and appoint us as mediators and investigators, as well as those who generously volunteer their time to run organizations like the SBA and CBABC.
