On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we’re reminded that accessibility is more than assistive tools—it’s about removing barriers so everyone can fully participate in the workplace.

For Amy, working as a chairside assistant in a busy dental clinic meant constant communication—with coworkers and patients.

But with hearing impairment, that wasn’t always easy.

With support from WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, Amy was able to access the hearing aids she needed to succeed at work.

The impact was immediate:
“Communication is much better. I can hear coworkers clearly, connect with patients, and understand everything happening around me.”

Amy shares that without this support, getting hearing aids wouldn’t have been possible—and that access has made a meaningful difference in her day-to-day work.
