The Machine Operator will set up and operate the sheeter, kettles, mixers, Megart depositor and meringue machine. This is a unionized position. The Operator will report to the Production Supervisor
Job Responsibilities
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
• Comprehend and focus on food preparation as per recipe.
• Set up and adjust the equipment to meet the specifications of the recipe.
• Validate set up based on the weighing or measuring of various components.
• Participate in the production of icings, fillings, cooked ingredients, batter and/or bases according to time and temperature standards.
• Ensure documentation is filled with correct dates and lot codes.
• Report equipment problems immediately to the Supervisor.
• Ensure waste is weighed, logged, and kept to a minimum.
• Actively participate in all training administered by the Company; report any food safety and/or health & safety concerns immediately.
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), British Retail Consortium (BRC) requirements, and quality and food safety policies and procedures.
• Be punctual, help set up the work area and understand the daily work schedule.
• Constructively raise any concerns with the Supervisor regarding personal or team’s responsibilities, issues with daily schedule, any quality concerns, and product/material shortages.
• Maintain one’s appearance and uniforms in compliance with La Rocca policies.
• Be respectful of fellow employees, supervisors and management; be a team player and assist others as needed.

Qualification
• Completion of High School or equivalent is an asset.
• Excellent command of oral and written English is a must.
• Ability to read, comprehend and execute written instructions accurately and on time.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work to schedules, procedures and quality/sanitation requirements.
• Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• High level of energy.
• Work any shift as scheduled; work overtime as may be required – weekdays and weekends.
Physical Demands
• Capable to lift or move weights up to 25 kg, occasionally up to 40 kg.
• Ability to mix, reach, bend, push, pull, stand, carry continuously over the course of a shift; frequent repetitive movement.
• Extended periods of time focused on manual tasks, requiring care and attention to avoid injury to self or others.
Working Conditions
• Bakery environment which involves exposure to warmer than and cooler than optimal room temperatures.
• Fast-paced, high volume output environment.
• Must be able to wear all safety or protective equipment as required by the Company.
• Required flexibility to be moved between areas and tasks as needed.
