Continuing our introduction of Team Finland's offence. 🇫🇮

#8 Peter Hrynuik (Forward)

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Peter Hryniuk is a dynamic offensive player known for his elite playmaking ability and dangerous outside shot.

A product of the Soo Spartans lacrosse club founded by his father, Glenn, Hryniuk developed through the Ontario junior ranks before winning a Baggataway Cup national championship with Brock University in 2021.

After leading the Toronto Lightning in scoring in 2025, Hryniuk now makes his Team Finland debut at EBLC2026, bringing creativity, high-level Canadian experience, and offensive firepower to the Finnish lineup.

#9 Jarno Aaltonen (Forward)

Standing at 208 cm (6'9"), Jarno Aaltonen is one of the tallest players in international box lacrosse and a unique presence in Team Finland's offence.

EBLC2026 marks his ninth appearance for Team Finland. Aaltonen gained valuable experience in Canada, playing Junior A lacrosse with the Okotoks Raiders in 2015. Despite his size, he possesses exceptionally soft hands — a quality few would expect from a player of his stature.

Off the floor, he enjoys golf, padel, tennis — and, somewhat unexpectedly, collecting refundable bottles.

#48 Simo Teperi (Forward)

Simo Teperi is a right-side offensive player known for setting nasty picks and creating space for his teammates on the floor. He started playing lacrosse in 2014 at the age of 20 with LTU Lacrosse in Finland.

He gained international experience early in his career, competing in the inaugural season of the Israel Premier Lacrosse League in 2015. EBLC2026 marks his third European Championship appearance with Team Finland.

Off the floor, Teperi works as a data analyst for professional ice hockey club Rauman Lukko, bringing the same analytical mindset to his approach to the game.

🥍 WHAT A SEASON! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE YEAR FOR OUR LACROSSE FAMILY! 💙💛

From our youngest players learning the fundamentals and discovering their love for the game, to our older divisions competing, growing, and challenging themselves — every player contributed to an incredible season.

Our 3 REP teams proudly represented our community at the Ontario Provincial Lacrosse Festival, putting in the work, competing with heart, and showing just how far our program has come.

But the biggest achievements aren't always measured on the scoreboard.

They’re found in the first goal.
The first save.
The new skill finally mastered.
The teammate who picked someone up.
The player who never gave up.
The friendships made.
The confidence gained.
And the love for lacrosse that continues to grow. ❤️🥍

This season was filled with growth, teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge THANK YOU to every player, coach, trainer, volunteer, official, sponsor, and family member who helped make this season possible.

What a run! Our U11 Spartans have battled their way through the Ontario Provincial Championship and have earned their spot in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! 🥍🔥

We couldn't be prouder of this group and everything they've accomplished. Now it's time to finish the job! 💪

It's that exciting time of year!! We want to wish our U13 and U15 teams the very best of luck as they compete at the Provincial Championships this weekend!!
These teams have worked incredibly hard all season, showing determination, growth, and resilience every step of the way. No matter the scores or standings, earning the chance to compete at Provincials is something to be proud of.
Go out, give it your all, support your teammates, and enjoy every moment of the experience. We know you'll represent our league with heart, sportsmanship, and pride.
Good luck this weekend—we'll all be cheering you on! 🥍💙💛

Honouring the Game. Celebrating Our Roots 🥍
Our lacrosse players had the opportunity to take part in a special demonstration showcasing the rich history and timeline of lacrosse in the Sault Ste. Marie area. A day was spent at Fort St Joseph, where a traditional game was held.

From learning about the origins of the Creator's Game to exploring how the sport has grown within our community, our athletes gained a deeper appreciation for the traditions, culture, and people who have helped shape lacrosse throughout the years.
Understanding where the game comes from helps us appreciate where it's going.
We're proud to see our players embracing the history of the sport while continuing to build its future here in Baawaating/Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area.
