Today we recognize World Autism Day. Today is a day to celebrate neurodiversity and the incredible strengths, talents, and perspectives that individuals on the autism spectrum bring to our communities and workplaces.

At jobPath, we see every day how autistic individuals thrive in meaningful, paid employment when given the opportunity. Their unique ways of thinking often lead to exceptional attention to detail, innovative problem-solving, strong focus, and a fresh perspective that drives workplaces forward.

Inclusive hiring is not just the right thing to do, it saves businesses money, it makes organizations stronger, more creative, and more successful.

Today, and every day, we are proud to support individuals on the autism spectrum in achieving their employment goals and showing the world what’s possible.

Let’s continue to break down barriers, challenge assumptions, and build workplaces where everyone can succeed.

March is Developmental Disability Awareness Month which seeks to make it a reality that children and adults of all types are succeeding in their education, employment as well as in the rest of life!

How to Observe Developmental Disability Awareness Month.

Every person deserves to have their needs met and live a fulfilled life! Developmental Disability Awareness Month provides opportunities to get involved and connected with making sure this happens and advocating for it, starting with some of these ideas:

Show Support with the Color Orange.
The official ribbon and support color for Developmental Disability Awareness Month is orange as it symbolizes energy and positivity. So donning this color is a great way to show support!

Try pinning an orange ribbon to a coat or shirt, get a group of coworkers to wear orange in honor of the event, or make a virtual orange ribbon a profile picture for social media. Raise an orange flag on your home, your business, your desk at work or even your car!

Learn more about the issues involved with support for people with disabilities by checking out a book from the local library or getting involved with a local charity who specializes in helping those with a developmental disability such as Community Living Sarnia-Lambton

Today, we are proud to recognize the extraordinary generosity of the Harry E. Foster Charitable Foundation for their meaningful support of the jobPath employment program for people with disabilities.

At a critical time for our program, the Foundation stepped forward with a generous contribution that ensured uninterrupted service for the individuals we support. Because of their leadership and commitment to community impact, participants were able to continue their employment journeys without disruption, maintaining momentum, confidence, and stability during their job searches and workplace transitions.

Consistent, reliable support is essential for individuals navigating barriers to employment. Even brief gaps in service can create setbacks. Thanks to the Harry E. Foster Charitable Foundation’s timely investment, jobPath was able to provide seamless, person-centered employment counselling, job development, and on-the-job supports to those working toward permanent, competitive employment.

Their generosity reflects a deep commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and dignity for people with disabilities. We are sincerely grateful for their partnership and for the trust they have placed in our work. Their support is not only sustaining a program, it is changing lives and strengthening our entire community.

The Harry E. Foster Charitable Foundation was established in 1954 to support inclusion of people with developmental / intellectual disabilities.

Earlier this month, we said a heartfelt goodbye to our colleague Heather as she stepped into a well-deserved retirement. She has made a lasting impact on both clients and staff, and she will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working with her. While we’re sad to see her go, we’re so happy for Heather as she begins this next chapter. If you’d like to pass along your well wishes or a message, we’ll make sure they get to her, although we can't promise she will respond as retirement life will have her busy and we suspect her schedule may now revolve around Blue Jays games and Leafs puck drop 😉🥳 Congratulations Heather!!!!!!!
