If you’re outside Canada and already have a Canadian employer, there are clear paths—but the right one depends on the job and paperwork. In many cases you’ll need an employer-specific work permit supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment, or an LMIA, but some jobs are LMIA-exempt under the International Mobility Program—think intra-company transfers, certain international agreements, or significant-benefit categories. Your employer should provide a detailed job offer and either an LMIA or an employer’s offer-of-employment number from the IRCC employer portal. You’ll apply to the Canadian visa office that serves your country, usually online, and may need an eTA or temporary resident visa, biometrics, and a medical exam depending on your nationality and job. For long-term plans, employer-backed routes include Provincial Nominee Programs or employer-driven PR streams, but requirements vary by province. Don’t assume eligibility—documents and employer compliance matter. For a case review and help preparing a strong application, Contact GTR Immigration today!
