MWO MCKAY ENROLLED IN THE CAF 10 JAN 2000, HE COMPLETED FIELD ENG QL3 8 DEC 2000 AT CFSME, CFB GAGETOWN. UPON COMPLETEION OF DRIVER WHEEL COURSE WAS POSTED TO 2 CER 07 MAR 2001. HE DEPLOYED TO AFGANISTAN OP ATHENA JUL 03- FEB 04 & AUG 05-MAR 06. IN APR 07 HE WAST POSTED TO CFSME WHERE HE TAUGHT MANY COURSES AND BECAME A SME IN BRIDGING AND ROWPU. POSTED BACK TO 2 CER JUL 2011 HE TOOK PART IN OP WINISK, SEP 2013. IN JUL 2018 HE WAS POSTED TO CANSOFCOM HQ, OTTAWA. HE WAS POSTED BACK TO 2 CER JUL 2020 UNTIL POSTING TO TRANSITION CENTER PETAWAWA. MWO MCKAY RETIRES ON 6 OCT 2025 AFTER COMPLETEING 25Y 8M 27D WITH THE CAF.

ON RETIREMNT JASON AND WIFE TANYA WILL BE MOVING TO A NEW HOUSE TO CONTINUE TO GROW HIS SMALL WOOD SHOP AND GARDENING

Today concludes another great achievement by 23 Fld Sq (2CER) while assisting on FTX with 5RGC in ValCartier, Quebec. CHIMO!

Sept 25/26 1944, The Sappers of 4 separate field companies, including 23rd field company, carried out the courageous rescue of British, Polish and American airborne forces. The Operation began under the cover of darkness at 2200 on 25 Sept 1944. The field companies began their slow advance under inopportune conditions, horrendous weather and a constant onslaught of machine gun, mortar and artillery fire.

After a long night of work, the 23rd field company recovered the majority of the besieged paratroopers, shuttling approx. 150 boat loads across the Neder Rijn.

During the rescue, 7 Sappers (Combat Engineers) were killed and 14 were wounded.

2 CER, home of 23 Field Squadron (named after 23 Field Company) commemorates this event with Neder Rijn Day every September. The Sappers and supporters of 2 CER come together and complete Engineer tasks and challenges, competing with each other. This year (15 0900 SEP 23) 24 Fd Sqn took the mantle of Victors.

2 CER is proud to uphold and celebrate the legacy, traditions and honour of the 23rd Field Company by commemorating the sacrifices made by the brave sappers on that fateful night.

Casual employment opportunities as a General Labourer at the GL-ELE-03 level within the Department of National Defence ADM Infrastructure & Environment. We are looking for General Labourers to join our dynamic team. We have several casual employment positions to fill.

Perform daily labour tasks to all aspects of grounds maintenance, including snow removal, road maintenance and other infrastructure repair tasks.
