Position: DSW – Development Support Worker
Location: Peterbourgh ON, Whitby On, Stouffville On

Rate of Pay: $21/hr

This position contributes to the delivery of supports and programs consistent with life plans to meet the needs of individuals in order to enhance their capacity to function in all aspects of community living.
Responsibilities include participating in life planning sessions, implementing life skills programs, providing tailored support and providing appropriate personal and physical care and crisis response.

This Opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Position as PSW/Support Service Attendant/ role. Less than 30 hours per week.

Starting wage is $21.00 per hour. This position already includes the $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government.

Roles and responsibilities:
• Current position is primarily weekday shifts
• Reporting responsibilities (incident reports, activity planning, behavioural data collection and verbal reports)
• Participate in any required training
• Follow policies and procedures as required
• Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community to adults with disabilities with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.

Qualifications and experience:
• Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
• Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care
• Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, including de-escalation techniques
• Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
• Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers
• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours

Position: Looking for PSWs with CPI
Provides personal, palliative, housekeeping, respite and other services to the elderly, adults with disabilities and other vulnerable individuals in our community. The Personal Support Worker performs tasks of a confidential nature while providing services to a vulnerable, high-risk client population.

Things to remember:
• Provide personal care to clients in compliance with agency and/or funder Personal Support Worker Standard of Care (including but not limited to bathing, skin care, mouth care, routine activities of daily living where applicable, communication/socialization with client and family, toileting, transfers/lifts, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc.).
• Complete homemaking tasks and other duties as required (including but not limited to cleaning, laundry, shopping, errands, meal planning and preparation, escorts, fumigation preparation, seasonal cleaning).
• Document/record and handle client fees with timesheet; complete any documentation requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain and deliver accurate and complete timesheets.
• Communicate regularly with the Supervisor regarding client care concerns and promptly notify her/him of emergency and/or unsafe situations.
• Participate in ongoing staff meetings and educational sessions. Participate in the orientation of new Personal Support Workers.

EXPERIENCE
• Knowledge of health-care procedures and mechanical equipment – wheelchairs, lifts, G-tubes and other specialized equipment. Successful completion of internal legislated and mandated training. Valid driver’s license is an asset.
• Minimum of 6 months of work experience is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Carrying out regularly assigned or prescribed duties related to the provision of services and supports
• Supporting assessment of day to day needs of individuals supported, the implementation of life plans, and monitoring achievement of personal outcomes.
• Providing appropriate personal and physical care including medication administration and crisis response
• Liaising with friends and family as required to address needs and to share information on behalf of individuals supported
• Supports life skills training and provides emotional support to individuals on a one-on-one or group basis
• Maintaining documentation and ensuring an appropriate standard of living for individuals supported.

In the home setting, the nurse brings caring activities that generate trust and collaboration for both the care of the client and the maintenance of health of the other family members. The nursing process applied to home care includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning for care, intervention and evaluation.
