Applications are now open for our Intermediate AI Course.

This six-week, hands-on course focuses on the practical application of modern artificial intelligence in real-world contexts. Indigenous perspectives are integrated throughout the curriculum, exploring how Indigenous communities and organizations are engaging with AI, and how our ways of knowing can inform values-based and ethical approaches to emerging technologies.

Responsible AI is a core theme throughout the course. Learners will examine issues such as data privacy, bias, environmental impact, and the limits of automation, with an emphasis on human judgment and local data control.

🗓️ Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9 am–4 pm
💰 Cost: Free. Fully funded for eligible Indigenous learners ages 18–35 living in BC

• Build and prototype basic AI agents and custom GPTs
• Recognize and apply common AI system patterns
• Apply principles of responsible and trustworthy AI

The FNHA Status Card Administration Team will be visiting Citxw to support community members with Indian Status registration, Status Card renewals, and first-time Status Card applications for those who are already registered.

Dates: October 14–16th, 2026
Location: Citxw, 1840 Nicola Ave, Merritt, BC

Please ensure you have the required documents ready before attending. For Status Card applications and renewals, applicants will need one piece of non-expired government-issued photo ID. For applicants 15 years and younger or dependent adults, the applying parent or guardian must provide non-expired government-issued photo ID. For Indian Status registration, applicants will need their long-form birth certificate with parental information and non-expired government-issued photo ID. For applicants 15 years and younger or dependent adults, the child’s long-form birth certificate and the applying parent or guardian’s non-expired government-issued photo ID will be required. If you need to obtain or renew your ID or order a long-form birth certificate, please do so ahead of time through ICBC or BC Services Centre/Vital Statistics.
