π’ IMPORTANT FIRST AID PROGRAM UPDATE πβοΈ
Big changes are coming to First Aid training in Ontario!
Effective June 22, 2026, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will introduce updated requirements for all First Aid training providers across Ontario. Canadian Red Cross Standard and Emergency First Aid courses will reflect these updates beginning on this date.
Hereβs what participants need to know π
β
Updated Course Content
Our revised First Aid & CPR Program already includes the key updates required under the new CSA Z1210:24 standards. Ontario courses will also include:
π Additional occupational health & safety slides
π A mandatory Ontario learner bulletin
β
Certification Name Changes
Under the updated program, first aid certification names will align with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z1210:24 standards:
π©Ή Basic First Aid = equivalent to Emergency First Aid
π©Ί Intermediate First Aid = equivalent to Standard First Aid
While certificate names are changing, businesses will still continue to meet WSIB Regulation 1101 requirements βοΈ
β
Recertification Courses Continue
Great news! π
Participants who complete a full Standard First Aid course before June 21, 2026, will still be eligible to take recertification courses when renewing their certification.
Learners can continue alternating between:
β‘οΈ Full Course
β‘οΈ Recertification Course
every three years, just like the current system.
β
All Certifications Remain Valid
Whether your course is completed before or after June 22, your certification remains valid until its expiry date βοΈ
β
Approved Training Partner List
To meet WSIB requirements, a list of all approved Canadian Red Cross Training Partners in Ontario will be posted on our Help & Support platform by June 22, 2026. The list will help learners verify approved providers when searching for training.π
Weβll continue sharing updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for choosing us for your First Aid & CPR training! β€οΈ
