💜 International Overdose Awareness Day 💜

Yesterday, our trainer Allen Somjee spent the afternoon at Indwell on Dundas Street supporting their International Overdose Awareness Day event, hosted by Steven Holden, Addiction Support Worker.

It was a great afternoon of food, conversation and learning! 🌭❤️ Allen joined tenants for a BBQ and provided Naloxone Training, along with an opportunity to learn and practice some CPR skills.

Everyone who participated in the Naloxone Training also received a Certificate of Completion to recognize the training they completed. 👏

We were so happy to be invited to take part in the day and help provide tenants with practical skills and knowledge that could one day help save a life.

Thank you to Steven and the team at Indwell for having us and for creating an opportunity to bring people together, build awareness and support the community. 💜

👩‍🍳✨ A Day of Fine Dining Inspiration!

Our Culinary Pre-Apprenticeship students had an incredible opportunity to visit Lanoa, Cintro’s sister restaurant, where the chefs welcomed them into the kitchen for a day of learning, demonstrations and hands-on experience.

The chefs demonstrated a variety of creative sweet and savoury dishes, including:

🦪 Oyster – peach, ginger & kosho
🥓 Pork Belly – tallow, lime & perilla
🍑 Corn Dessert – peach gel, miso butter with mochi & cereal milk crunch

Students were introduced to fine dining techniques, explored new kitchen equipment and had the chance to learn directly from talented chefs who have spent years mastering their craft.

After the demonstrations, it was time to get to work! Half of the students teamed up to prepare a staff meal, while the other half helped get the restaurant ready for service by setting up the dining space. 🍽️

One of the biggest highlights of the day was hearing the chefs share their own personal journeys into the culinary industry. For many of our pre-apprentices, hearing where they started, how they built their careers and where their passion has taken them gave them something very real to aspire to. ❤️

Our students left feeling inspired, excited and thinking about all the possibilities that could be waiting for them as they begin their own culinary careers.

A huge thank you to the team at Lanoa for opening your doors, sharing your knowledge and giving our students such a memorable experience! 👏👨‍🍳👩‍🍳
