IMPRESSIVE RESUME - As the Recruitment Manager of Global CanDo Hire Inc. a.k.a. CanDo Recruitment, I will share with you tips on how to make your resume really impressive, one that will catch the attention of Canadian employers.
Subject for discrimination daw yon. Iba naman ang experience ko. Mas gusto ng client/ employers namin na may profile picture ang applicants for easy identification, and NOT to discriminate. Mas madaling maidentify if there is a face to name. Pag local hiring, puedeng ipatawag agad ang aplikante for an in-person interview. Pero international hiring tayo. Pag isinubmit namin ang resume and credentials/ documents ng applicants sa employers, kasama doon ang passport page ninyo with photo. Pati driver's license with photo din. I'll even find you sincere and honest. Parang sinasabi nyo sa employer at sa recruiter na "Eto ako, ready for your interview. Hindi man kagandahan o kaguapuhan, pero charming naman with my winsome smile." Kaya for CanDo applicants, maglagay kayo ng "headshot" profile photo. Typically head and shoulders shot.
a. Dress professionally. Dress to impress. Kung ano ang isusuot mo pag humarap ka sa in-person interview (not virtual or Zoom) sa Makati, sa Ortigas, o sa Quezon City, iyon ang isuot mo. No collarless t-shirt. Better still, nakapolo o long-sleeved shirt for men. Sunday's best for women. Kung Chef, Cook, or Baker ka, better have a photo in a chef uniform - white.
b. Have that positive aura full of confidence by smiling. Huwag seryoso. Smile and the whole world smiles with you. Kaya wear that smile to project that winner in you. Sa resume pa lang, panalo ka na. Ang sabi ng isang professional photographer na nagsulat para sa LinkedIn, "A smile in your profile photo projects that confidence and competence that employers are looking for."
c. Better have a plain background. Mas professional ang picture nyo pag malinis ang background. Either DSLR camera or cellphone shots ay puede. Pero kung gusto nyong very attractive ang picture nyo, hire a professional photographer or a friend who knows about portrait photography. Ginagawa ko yan sa mga aplikanteng narito sa Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley. Libre lang yan sa akin. Dati kasi akong wedding and portrait photographer on the side dito sa Kelowna, BC, ang napakaganda naming city.
2. Your name in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Eye catcher yan. Parang oozing with confidence ka and proud of your name.
3. Current address and permanent address - Kung narito kayo sa Canada on Visit Visa, ilagay ang complete address nyo dito (House number, street, city, province). Ex. 2749 Bernard Ave., Kelowna, BC, Canada (On Visit Visa) Puede nyong lagyan ng note na (On Visit Visa). Kung nasa ibang bansa kayo like the Middle East, ilagay ang complete address nyo. After your current address abroad, ilagay naman ang complete Permanent Address sa Pilipinas. Ex. 869 J.P. Rizal St., Concepcion, Marikina City, Metro Manila, Philippines - Always put the name of country in all your addresses.
4. Cellphone number - ilagay ito whether narito kayo sa Canada o saan man sa mundo.
5. Email address - dapat isang email address lang.
6. Career Objective - dapat direct to the point ito. Huwag flowery o mabulaklak. Maraming ganyang objective. Ex. "To work in Canada as an Autobody Technician where I can use my 10 years of relevant experience". One sentence lang yan at direct to the point.
7. Work History or Work Experience - ito ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat ng entries sa resume nyo. Diyan tututok ang recruiter at employer. Gusto nilang malaman ang sumusunod:
a. Job position
b. Name of company
c. Address or location of company
d. Duration of work or period covered - Ilagay ang month and year Ex. May 2020 - Present Ex. August 2018 - April 2020
e. Show 6-10 job duties for your relevant jobs and 3-4 job duties to jobs not relevant to your desired job. Kung L**e Technician ang inaapplyan mo, put just 3-4 job duties to your job at Jollibee as a food counter attendant. You must use key words related to your job dahil iyan ang gustong makita ng employer.
Chronological Resume - show your jobs from the current and down to the oldest job.
Meron akong nakikitang resume na may employment gap na 2 years, 3 years, and even 5 to 8 years. Hahanapin yan ng Immigration Officer. They want honest immigrants. Kaya banggitin nyo kung ano ang ginawa nyo in those missing period.
