When company leadership sends people to training, they often miss a significant opportunity to build their team culture.

This is because they either don't send the whole team to get them on the same page, or they don't attend themselves, making it difficult for those that do attend to implement change because leadership isn't on the same page.

Group training is a fantastic opportunity to build team culture if everyone is on the same page, and this week Jody and I talk about why that is and how to make it happen.

One of the most common reasons is that training is treated as an event rather than a process. They don't use group training to build culture.

Had a great conversation with Lee Cockerell and Jody Maberry regarding anxiety and how important it is to be open about it and put your hand up for help.

Especially as a leader, it can be tough to show that level of vulnerability. However, addressing it allows you to be at your best for people relying on you to be, but it also sets a strong example for those you lead.

Last year had challenges for mental health, and I may have not been self-aware of what was going on or had the courage to be vulnerable and call it out if not for Lee being open about his own challenges.

Call it for what it is and own it.

I had a great time on my mentor Lee Cockerell's podcast talking about hiring right - the first time!

I've learned a lot over the years from Lee, but the biggest thing I've learned is a simple philosophy of "hire them right, train them right, and treat them right."

None of the other two will work if you don't hire them right first.
