From Bias to Belonging: Inclusive Patient Care
A meaningful conversation about creating healthcare experiences where everyone feels respected, valued, and heard.
Featuring Dr. James Makokis and Dr. Patricia Makokis, followed by a discussion panel hosted by the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, this workshop explores the impact of bias in healthcare, barriers to accessing care, and the importance of creating culturally safe, inclusive, relationship-based care.
Through keynote presentations, personal stories, lived experiences, and open discussion, you will gain a deeper understanding of systemic bias, cultural humility, and practical approaches to building trust and strengthening relationships with patients and communities.
This workshop will offer valuable insights and strategies aimed to deepen your understanding and strengthen your commitment to inclusive, compassionate care that you can apply in your everyday practice to help create healthcare environments.
