Hello Sleuthers! The Covid 19 Pandemic is hitting many around the world hard. Many never thought they would be in intensive care with Covid or that they would see their loved ones die of Covid. Some believe it could be a few years before we see the last of this virus and there are many who believe the virus doesn't exist. We are all open to have our own beliefs and how we will choose to protect or not protect ourselves from this virus.

A few other things are true as well: inflation is also hitting us hard!!! Look at recent gas prices, and the cost of basic groceries such as dairy products and other items we buy regularly.

Even in these difficult times, it's hard to comprehend why many are choosing not to find work when there are many offices/companies who are seeking to hire and are unable to attract/fill those positions.

Many known companies such as local grocery stores, Amazon, Walmart, and countless restaurants are trying to hire new staff.

My view on this pandemic is that this an unusual time in history to truly take advantage of the job opportunities that are available. It's a great time to offer your strengths to employers who might normally not be interested to hire someone with little experience or someone who is interested to break into a new career. These opportunities are here now ....sooo will you "seize the day" to make it happen? Make every day count ....your future is waiting for you!!!!

Happy New Year Job Sleuthers!! Hope you are all well & ready for this New Year. I found this on Linkedin. Not sure about other countries but here's a list of offices/retailers who are interested to hire soon. I would say even in the early days of the New Year there are many opportunities out there. At times, the tortoise can win the race when he/she gets an early start in a race. Every action/contact/email/phone call is 1 step closer to being employed. Have the courage & faith in yourself that you can turn this pandemic around for yourself & your loved ones. I am never losing faith in you, Job Sleuthers. Send your applications to these employers...you may get a quick response which means a quick hiring date: ))) Happy 2021!!!

Hello Jobsleuthers. I've been away & thought you could use some encouragement during Covid19. No, it's not easy to find work but I will find ideas to help bring in some income. Here is 1 off the top of my head. In most parts of Canada & parts of the USA, it's winter! No, I'm not saying this because Christmas is coming. I'm saying Winter because with winter comes "snow" & in some parts it means LOTS of snow. Here's 1 idea I have: snow removal. I'm sure there are others who need their driveway cleared of snow to get to a job, or a single woman/man/an elder who would appreciate their driveway cleared. For a fee of 20 or 25$ each, perhaps you could create a small neighborhood of snow-clearing contracts to add some extra income. It's a thought I had recently. I will try to look on Indeed to see what major companies are hiring for those who prefer to work for others. Another idea I see sprouting up is remote work from home. If you have a reliable computer & phone connection there may be opportunities for that. I can't give guarantees, but I will try to find some ideas. This pandemic is tough, mask-wearing most days is tough but there are opportunities out there. Some are realizing that the work they thought benefited them actually reduced their quality of life. If anything, the Pandemic is giving us a chance to step back a moment, & realize we have much to be thankful for & that maybe we just need to shift our behaviors & our motivations towards a better life. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I know we will make it through the Pandemic. My thoughts & well wishes go out to all of you, my Jobsleuthers. I will write soon: )

The city of Mount Pearl, which neighbours St. John's, received 93 cm of snow, while the town of Paradise received 91 cm.

Good day fellow Sleuthers. The holidays are approaching and I wish you all a fruitful and prosperous start to the New Year. We close the door that was 2018 and we welcome in 2019! We should all be thankful for people like Liz Ryan and her views on all things HR. She is a true gift to those seeking better employment or answers to tricky HR situations. She has great tips and loads of encouragement when we feel there is nobody who understands our HR woes. Here is an article Liz Ryan wrote regarding Applicant Tracking Systems or ATS. Most recruiting firms have been using them in recent years. It's worth knowing they are being used, it could be the reason your phone is not ringing like it used to. I wish you all a safe and festive holiday season. If you are like me, I am excited to see what 2019 has in store for us. I pray it is loaded with potential for all of you Job Sleuthers!!!

I turned 54 a couple of weeks ago. That makes me more than old enough to remember the frenzy to automate virtually every business process in the nineteen-eighties and -nineties. What cracks me up thinking about those days is the mantra, repeated a hundred times a day: "Garbage in, garbage [...]

Do you have Integrity? It could be the one quality that Human Resources is looking for when they consider to hire you. Great views in this article from Warren Buffett. Might be good to sprinkle some hints of "Integrity" in your resume, if you possess this quality: ))

It's what holds all three together or everything crumbles.

Soo, how did your interview go Job Sleuther? When a friend of mine asked me, "How do I know the interview went well?", I usually responded with some of these hints. I think one of the strongest indicators is if the HR rep asks, "How much of a notice do you need to give your employer?" (Question 9). If they ask you this ....FOR SURE, you are one of their strongest candidates: )) I hope you get "that" call!!! ) > "You're hired!".😎

The limbo period following your interview is tough. What you can do, is look for these 11 signs that your interview went well.
