“Why are you interested in this position?” If you’ve had a job interview lately, it is likely something you have been asked.
It sounds simple, but your answer tells more than you think.
Avoid making your entire answer about what you want to change from your current role like “I am looking for remote flexibility, and you offer that”, “I’m looking for a Monday- Friday schedule”, or “I want a role where I am able to make my own schedule”.
Instead, think about what drew you into the role itself.
What interested you about the responsibilities?
Which of your skills match what they need?
What could you learn?
Why does this company or industry interest you?
You don’t need a perfectly rehearsed speech. You just need to show that you understand what you applied for and have a genuine reason for wanting to be there.
