As we wrap up another week, let's take a moment to reflect and recharge. 🌟

Sometimes, your hard work and dedication might not be immediately visible, but trust me, they make a huge impact.

Reflect on your week and see the difference you've made.
Life can be super busy, especially if you're going through a career transition. It's easy to overlook your progress. So today, let's recognize the strides we've made and the positive impact we’ve had:

Gaslighting in the Workplace: How to Identify and Take Action

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse in any relationship, including the workplace. It can leave you feeling confused, self-doubting, and even ashamed. Unfortunately, gaslighting is too common in many workplaces and can seriously affect employees’ mental health and well-being.

If you’re not familiar with gaslighting, here are some examples of workplace gaslighting and how to recognize them:

* Denying your achievements
* Blaming you for their mistakes
* Setting unrealistic expectations
* Withholding information
* Threatening your job security
* Making you doubt your abilities
* Belittling your concerns
* Creating a culture of fear
*
If any of these signs of gaslighting resonate with you, it’s important to take action. Here are some steps you can take:

* Document the abuse
* Seek support
* Confront the gaslighter
* Report the abuse
* Consider leaving

But what about you? Have you experienced gaslighting in the workplace? What did you do to address it? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. As a recruiting expert and career strategist, I support you and offer advice on navigating difficult workplace situations.

Ainara Alleyne is a rising star. What started off as an Instagram account and a public display of books quickly grew to feature diverse authors, a selection of good reads, and a message about representation in literature. Inspiring a love of reading in other children would follow, too. Ainaras Bookshelf is the work of this Hamilton-born student and creator. Her passion and dedication have led her to become the creator of a TV series; a speaker at teaching symposiums; a junior ambassador for several organizations; a contributor for CBC Kids News; and the first Junior Librarian-in-Residence at the Hamilton Public Library.

Ainara's efforts have made a positive impact on her community. She continues to amplify diverse voices and stories underrepresented in literature through her work. It goes to show — you never know who’s watching, and where that can go. It’s also important to do your best, and be your best.

Recognizing Ainara for her outstanding achievements and commitment to making a difference is an honour. She is a true inspiration to all of us, and a shining example of what you can accomplish with passion, hard work, and a desire to help others.

The “Rising Star” award is given to a student in elementary school who is excelling in an academic field and/or area of interest, or extra-curricular activity. The recipient of this award must be motivated and hardworking, and have positively impacted their community or school.

On behalf of my company Hire Altitude, and my Hire Altitude Team, It is my distinct pleasure to present to you the recipient of this year’s “Rising Star” award. Congratulations, Ainara Alleyne!
