Nature of the position:
As the Human Resources Specialist, you will provide overall Human Resources support to the CrownRing manufacturing facility in various areas including: labour relations, health and safety, compensation, recruitment, orientation, payroll and performance management. Job responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day management of the Human Resources function including preparing job descriptions, employment agreements, disciplinary/corrective action documents, termination letters, dealing with grievances and arbitration and employment regulatory matters, etc.
- Full cycle recruiting and staffing for the entire organization including exempt and non-exempt employees. Various recruiting methods are used, including the internet, cold calling, referrals, and relationship building with local organizations to hire candidates for multiple positions and locations. Need to be able to think outside of the box to be able to source candidates in creative ways.
- -Prepare and update employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating, and maintain records of employee participation in all training and development programs.
- Develops, recommends, implements and maintains policies and programs for human resources function.
- Supports Health & Safety training, monthly JHSC meetings/workplace inspections, accident reports and investigations, return to work plans for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Conducts comprehensive new employee on-boarding sessions including supporting management team in probation and ongoing review/assessment to determine if employee is suitable for ongoing employment.
Requirements:
- Bi-lingual skills: speak, read, write, address groups, individuals, conduct investigations, counseling, training, mentoring in both French and English.
- Strong computer knowledge ie. Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a high volume and fast paced work environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be a confident communicator and must be able to effectively present to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in H.R. Management or equivalent.
- Progressive Human Resource Business partner or manager experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Five (5) years of Human Resources Management experience in a unionized environment.
