We’re excited to continue our Department Spotlight series by highlighting a department that plays a vital role in shaping futures and strengthening community: Education.

Seabird Island’s Education Department delivers culturally enriching, learner‑centered programs that support students, adults, parents, and families at every stage of their educational and career journey. Rooted in Stó:lō teachings and values, this team supports learning that builds academic success, cultural identity, and pathways to meaningful employment.

Our Education team supports the community through a wide range of programs and services, including:
🌿 Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 education
🌿 Halq’eméylem language and cultural learning
🌿 Trades exploration and real‑world skill development
🌿 Adult education and GED preparatory programs
🌿 Post‑secondary education support and funding guidance
🌿 College and Indigenous learner supports
🌿 Employment Services and Training supports
🌿 Career planning, vocational pathways, and job readiness
🌿 Parent and family workshops that support lifelong learning
🌿 Literacy, numeracy, digital skills, and leadership development

By supporting learners from early childhood through adulthood, and by connecting education with training and employment opportunities, the Education Department empowers the whole family unit, because strong communities begin with knowledge.
