One of the renowned research organization is looking for Center Director
Deadline: URGENT
Responsibilities:
• Lead the organization’s long‑term strategy to align with national and global non-communicable diseases and nutrition priorities
• Direct high‑quality research on non-communicable diseases and nutrition, focusing on population health, health systems, digital health, and policy, spotting emerging priorities and opportunities.
• Lead grant writing and actively pursue funding from national and international sources.
• Collaborate with other research centers,and external organizations on joint funding and initiatives.
• Strengthen existing academic, research, and institutional partnerships; build new ones in Bangladesh and abroad.
• Engage government, UN agencies, international bodies, civil society, and regional/global networks on non-communicable diseases and nutrition issues.
• Promote a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration across both the center and organization
• Mentor junior faculty and research staff; support manuscript development and publication.
• Publish and disseminate findings through journals, policy briefs, and other channels.
• Teach and support the academic courses on non-communicable diseases and nutrition, and train government officials, NGO staff, and health professionals.
• Develop new courses, certificates, or training to strengthen workforce capacity.
• Supervise graduate internships and dissertations, and Participate in academic governance, e.g., academic council duties.
• Provide technical support to government and stakeholders on non-communicable diseases and nutrition policies/programs through practical policy recommendations.
• Join policy dialogues, technical working groups, and evidence‑based advocacy efforts nationally and internationally.
• Oversee operations, budget, human resources, and overall resource allocation for the center
• Ensure financial sustainability through diversified funding, and manage grants/contracts per donor and university requirements.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team—researchers, support, and administrative staff.
• Maintain the organizational compliance
Requirements:
• PhD in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or related field. Medical Degree (MBBS) is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience in public health or relevant fields and at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in non-communicable diseases and nutrition through substantial research contributions and strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Proven track record of securing competitive research grants, and established relationships with international funding agencies
• Experience of working in low- and middle-income country contexts, preferably in South Asia
• Experience in academic administration or center/program management
• Strong network within the global public health and nutrition community
• Expert knowledge of Bangladesh's health system and policy environment
• Track record of mentoring early-career researchers
