🔥 LONG WEEKEND ROAD SAFETY 🔥

Kilmore Fire Brigade would like to wish everyone a safe and happy long weekend!

With more people travelling on our roads, we’re reminding everyone to take extra care, plan ahead and get to your destination safely.

🚘 A few important reminders:
✅ Drive to the conditions and obey speed limits.
✅ Never drive tired — take regular breaks.
✅ Put your phone away and stay focused on the road.
✅ Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
✅ Be patient, allow extra travel time and look out for other road users.

🚒 Our volunteers are always ready to respond when emergencies happen, but we’d much rather see everyone arrive safely at their destination.

Take your time, look out for one another and make it home safely this long weekend.

There is a chance of isolated thunderstorm activity across western parts of the state later tonight, driven by a trough moving eastwards over South Australia towards the South Australian-Victorian border, but they are more likely in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Storms, some severe, will be possible across much of the state on Saturday from the morning, continuing into the afternoon and evening.

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hailstones will be possible with severe thunderstorms.

🚨 Product safety recall - Ford F-150 2023 - 2026🚨

Fire risk - due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel tank strap may not have been adequately secured to the frame rail and could detach from the vehicle while driving. This could cause fuel to leak and, in the presence of an external ignition source, result in a vehicle fire.

Batteries don't belong in any household bin. They can spark and cause fires in collection trucks and recycling facilities, putting people and equipment at risk.

Every week, hundreds of batteries end up in kerbside bins. In our latest waste audit, 129 batteries were found in just 500 bins - that’s the equivalent of over 260,000 across the shire each year!

Keep our trucks and crews safe - never bin your batteries!

What to do instead:
🪫 Drop batteries at Council offices, resource recovery facilities, Woodend and Kyneton libraries, Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House.
