A strong turnaround in Whyalla, SA 👏

When Seth first connected with Workskil Australia in 2024, he was facing several challenges, including low motivation, anxiety around employment and concerns about housing. Working with his Employment Coach, Breanna (pictured), the focus was on building trust and helping Seth stay engaged and attend regular appointments.

Through ongoing support, Seth was connected with housing assistance, allied health services, training opportunities and TAFE SA Aboriginal Access Centre to gain additional tickets and licences. While working towards his learner’s permit, we also provided Seth with a bike to help him get to appointments, interviews and work.

After securing stable housing through SA Housing Trust, Seth’s motivation continued to grow and he successfully completed several qualifications, including White Card, Working at Heights, Confined Space Skillset and Redlock Practical Training, with plans to continue upskilling. Seth has also obtained his learner’s permit and is completing supervised driving hours with a family member.

Alongside these achievements, Seth found a sense of community through his local church, which has further supported his motivation and mental wellbeing.

Today, Seth is working in a full-time labourer position with Workforce Extensions Whyalla and continues to build a positive future.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly organised and driven Project & Administration Controller to join a leading local Heavy Industry Company based in Whyalla.

This is a key role responsible for overseeing project administration, document control, procurement support, and business unit coordination. You will play a critical part in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting operational efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Project & Document Control

Manage document control systems in line with project and quality standards
Maintain SharePoint and document archive systems
Register and track engineering and operational documentation
Support RFI tracking and project deliverables

🔹 Administration & Coordination

Act as the central communication point for the Business Unit
Prepare reports, newsletters, and internal communications
Coordinate meetings, minutes, and action tracking
Support leadership team scheduling and reporting

🔹 Procurement & Systems

Raise and manage purchase requisitions
Track procurement approvals and maintain registers
Ensure compliance with delegation of authority requirements
Provide system administration across Cority, Intranet, and Quality systems

🔹 Business Improvement

Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives
Drive efficiencies across administration, cost management, and office operations
Champion 5S and workplace organisation standards

🔹 General Office Management

Manage office systems, equipment, and fleet vehicles
Coordinate inductions for new employees and visitors

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

✔ Strong administrative and project coordination experience
✔ Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
✔ Exposure to SAP (highly regarded)
✔ Excellent organisational and document control capability
✔ Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

💼 About the Roles

You will be working within a heavy industrial steel manufacturing plant, carrying out maintenance, servicing, and operational support across fixed plant and mobile equipment.

Key responsibilities may include:
✔️ Preventative & breakdown maintenance
✔️ Equipment inspections and fault finding
✔️ Lubrication servicing of plant and machinery
✔️ Working within shutdown and rostered maintenance teams
✔️ Adhering to strict safety and site procedures

⏱️ Roster Options

We have multiple rosters available, including:
✔️ Day shift / Night shift rotations
✔️ Lifestyle rosters
✔️ Shutdown and ongoing maintenance work
